A while back I bought a used generator and transfer switch. O installed it and a short time later the governor failed. I was trying to decide what to do and came across this Champion portable generator. I had already run a natural gas line and wanted something that would run on it. This generator will run on gasoline, propane or natural gas. The size and price were right. And I did not need to hire someone for the install/start-up. Wish I had seen this year's ago. It would have saved me time and money. So far I 've only run it 5 hours to complete the break in. Ran it both on a propane tank and after getting a couple more fittings on natural gas. Seemed to run everything including the 2 ton A/C. I don't have the range, water heater or dryer connected to it. But most everything else.

I am very impressed thus far with the generator but the quick start directions could be clearer. It stated that it was natural gas ready which I assumed it would start right away on NG but you have to turn the switch which is on the side of the generator not the front to NG because it is on propane. It is certainly not clear in the instructions IMHO. If it is NG ready it should start when I hook up the NG and it did not until I found the switch on the side. The generator is great but the instructions are lacking IMHO. It is very loud as well as most small engines.

I bought the champion generator because I can hook it up via tri fuel and its always ready when I need it and it powers most of my home during outages and it works great and its a quality generator for the money and champion is the best product on the market and you do t go wrong

Love the tri fuel option. I live in Florida, so we have hurricanes, tornados, wild fires and all kinds of bad stuff. Our power supply is usually pretty reliable, but given the severity and extent of any natural disaster, all bets are off. I can power all the essential systems in my home no matter what happens with this tri fuel generator. Easy to use, easy to hook up, I think anyone that lives in the Southeast part of the US where bad weather is common should own one of these. Would highly recommend and I would buy this same unit again.

My situation is I just received my champion 8000 walk Tri fuel portable generator yesterday. My review doesn't speak to durability because of this. But I love the fact that this unit scored so highly in Consumer Reports testing and the nature of packaging and information were impressive enough to demonstrate this company is building good products with intelligent thinking around the end Consumer. I was able to install the wheels and the feet in five minutes. Each of the accessory components was bagged separately and well organized. There was a very easy to follow QuickStart guide. Everything from the box to the generator itself has simple illustrative guidance on using the unit. I connected it to an LP tank in just a couple of minutes and it fired up and ran beautifully on my first attempt. To be honest, I'm rather looking forward to our next power outage. If I remember, I'll come back and update my review. Good luck mate!

We recently hooked up to natural gas and needed a generator replacement that would use that fuel. The hook up was easy and it runs great. The price was thousands less than the automatic start generators that we looked into. The push button start is a Godsend to these old shoulders!!

Lost power for 12 hours starting at 11 pm on Wednesday night. Oncor said the repair would be a couple of hours. So, the power was still not on the next morning. Got the generator out, connected it to the natural gas line through 50 feet of NG hose, and to the power outlet on the outside of the house. The work on the power panel had not been tested yet. The generator on 50 feet of NG gas line had been tested and ran the generator great. Well, it all worked. All of the 220 breakers were turned off. The generator ran the rest of the whole house including the 2 gas furnaces for over 4 hours until the grid power was restored. Ah, Texas

Great on the construction job site. Great power-outage generator at home. Took a moment to start the first time around on gas. Be sure to get pressure right when using a natural gas connection for extended home use. Plenty of guides on Youtube for proper connections, regulators, etc.

Set up and installation for natural gas use was a breeze, It starts easily and brings a great source of comfort knowing if we exoerience another hurricane, my family will have reliable and quiet access to the power needed to live comfortably and safely while waiting for power to be restored.

I don't yet have an NG valve for this one yet, but we have NG at the house so I'll get one installed for ease of use in future. I had an electrician install an outlet on our panel and tested it off propane. Quick and easy start and power runs through the house perfectly - HVAC, fridge, lights, etc are all good to go. Not saying I want a real reason to use this thing, but it's nice knowing we're ready for the next power outage. Electrician has installed many generators and was impressed with this one. Hoses for NG and propane are included. Cable is separate (reasonably priced ones out there if you don't need name brand).
