I would buy again

I bought it for emergency backup electricity, and wanted multiple fuel use.

Highly recommended

I purchased this generator on the recommendation of someone who said Champion generators were the only ones still running in his neighborhood after Hurricane Ida after other brands quit or broke. I plan on hooking this up to natural gas and on having a manual switch electrical box. Out the box, it was easy to set up, and can add more after the trial run.

A very versatile product

I wanted a portable generator that would run on natural gas which freed me from the hassle of storing extra gasoline and treating it for long-term storage. I received this generator a week ago and it was delivered to my garage. Despite some damage to the shipping box the generator was well-protected and not damaged at all. The assembly and set-up was easy and instructions were clear. The included 25-foot natural gas hose was a real plus and allowed me to connect to an existing gas line under my outdoor deck. I only had to purchase a quick-connect fitting for the supply end of the hose and modify my gas line for a new connection. The generator started up and ran as expected and I applied varying electrical loads during the 5-hour beak-in period. Changing the engine oil after this was easy with the special drain hose and the included long-neck funnel. Despite its weight the fold-down handle makes moving the generator fairly easy. This generator has output connections for many types of devices and numerous safety features built in. I plan to use this only as a back-up power source for critical appliances during a power failure and it is much more economical than a whole house back-up system.

yes I would

it started right up an looks good, the manual tells you everything you need to know, it was here a day early, while I haven't tried it on the house yet I have run it for 3 hours to be sure it runs ok and it does, it's really nice to know they will be there to help with any problems, from what I see so far I will be buying another one for my smaller house next spring.

Needs 50A Outlet
1 out of 5 stars review

Was very excited to buy this model, but.....

This model needs a 50A outlet as mentioned above. Was planning to use this as a cost effective and versatile whole home generator, but without 50A it's useless. Can't run a central AC on only 30A. Seems like a big oversight by the design team. If this had 50A capability it would be the perfect generator.

Just what I needed

I needed something to replace my old manual start generator. When I saw this electric start with the natural gas option I was sold. I finally had a chance to fire it up. It was so easy. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) the power came back on before I could connect it to the house wiring. So far I'm impressed.

Update to my last review

Tech support called back but not much help with the below issue. Fixed issue on my own. TS said I did not have enough NG flow, I have 42"WC pressure at the 1/2 connection point, same as the whole house connection. Gen specs only require 5 to7"WC pressure with 1/2"NPT, per manual...So 42"WC is way more than required. I decided to add a 7to11" regulator to the connection before the flex hose to the generator. That fixed the original issue, I am speculating that the internal regulator could not handle 42"WCP. Not one mention of MAX pressure specs, only required, in the provided manual. The TS guy still has not called back after his 2nd callback telling me he needs to do more research. Fyi ... if your WCP is like mine, you will need to add a 11"WCP max regulator, about $40-50. Generator works great now. My Original review with response below: The generator runs on house NG fine, but only runs with NG switch in NG CHOKE position. When I move it down to NG RUN, the engine runs rough, very rough, as if the choke was on. Moved the switch back to NG CHOKE, engine runs smooth. Tested with ethanol-free fuel, GAS CHOKE, started rough, moved down to GAS RUN, smooth engine. Pulled the airbox cover off to manually see the butterfly valve, Butterfly closed when in NG CHOKE, open when NG RUN, like it was designed. While running, the butterfly valve is closed and the engine runs smoothly but again when moving down to NG RUN, valve opens and engine is running real rough. I did an OPS check for 5 hrs, power whole house with NG in the NG CHOKE position and it worked fine. Trying to contact tech Support about the NG CHOKE/RUN issue. I will change my rating to a five if issue gets resolved by tech support. Merchant Response We are very sorry to hear this. When using natural gas, the carburetor should not be used. There perhaps may not be enough NG flowing through the NG hose itself causing the unit to run rough.

I would buy this product again! Great product, as described!

The flexibility of the tri-fuel model is unparalleled. The box was very well packaged and crated--no damage inside. Instructions were straight forward and clear--everything needed is included. Love the hoses, funnel, oil, etc. I just wish there were quick disconnects to go with the natural gas hose. Unit started right up after I followed the instructions and has been fault free. If the longevity lives up to the Champion name, this should be a "no-brainer" buy. Highly recommend.
