I had previously owned a touchless trashcan and my kids 'accidentally' broke the lid. I was so impressed with how long the 1st one lasted and really enjoyed the touchless lid - I never thought twice about purchasing a different trash can. I have owned this one for about a month and it works GREAT!

This is an awesome trash can, and we always get compliments on it. You can't beat the price!! Compared to other stores prices of over $100, this is a steal! I've owned this for over a year and it still looks and works wonderfully. I have even bought this for gifts for family and friends. Excellent trash can! You won't regret purchasing it.

What I like best about this trash can is that it holds a week's worth of trash for me (single male) while containing the smell of the trash very well. Obviously once the lid opens, the smell becomes apparent. The bag is also easy to install and stays in place well. It is cleaned easily and a good feature is the ability to keep the lid open by pushing the button, for those times in the kitchen when you are constantly back and forth from sink to trash. Which brings me to the drawbacks - the opening of the lid has a delay of about 1 full second; that may seem like a short time but not when you are holding something that is dripping. Furthermore, the sensor can be tricky to activate sometimes; it seems like you need to be at a certain angle to it, and I don't think it works in low lighting. I can't comment on the battery life because I've only had it for a few weeks. Well is it worth the 50-something dollar price? As an upgrade from my old, stained, 5 gallon plastic trash can with pop-up lid (broken) - definitely. I'm sure the Simple Human trash cans are much nicer but I'm not willing to spend that much. Sometimes the need arises to justify spending 50 bucks on something you could have easily spent $15 for a plastic one with a swinging lid; but in the end, if it makes my life easier, it's worth it. At least that's what I keep repeating to myself.

Works very well, opens widely, good size. To keep garbage to stay open, have to keep hand or dish over sensor or it will close on you, but doesn't take long to get used to and isn't a sensitive sensor. Just know that it does not come with the 4 D-size batteries it requires to work.

I've had this trash can for almost two years now. I can safely say this is THE BEST trash can I've ever owned. It's so easy to use, put the batteries in, wave your hand over the sensor and it automatically opens to allow you to throw away trash without having to touch the can or step on a pedal. It closes automatically a few seconds after you move your hand away from the sensor. I actually miss using my trash can if I'm visiting friends or family or if I'm out of town. I liked this so much that I bought one as a gift for my dad last year and he loves it too! You will not be disappointed if you buy this trash can! I finally found a great trash can that doesn't break and I don't have to touch it unless i'm changing the bag, worth every penny!

GREAT.... EVERYONE IS THROWING OUT GARBAGGE. IT WORKS WONDERFUL & IT KEEPS THE SMELL IN & TRASH OUT OF SIGHT. IT'S BEST WHEN YOUR HANDS ARE FULL OR DIRTY, THE DOOR OPENS & PRESTO YOU HAVE ACCESS TO THE PAIL. IT'S THE BEST TRASH CAN YET & I HAVE HAD A LOT OF THEM. I LOVE IT

This garbage pail was purchased after I had the floor tiles done and my kitchen painted. I couldn't have a dented stainless steel pail anymore with everything else looking great. I looked around for one and saw many that were very expensive. The price was great and the shipping was $1.97. I couldn't beat that. It came a couple of days later and I was very happy with it (appearance wise). It is a very nice looking pail. The only problem that I have had with it, is that sometimes it only opens half way. So far so good, but it is only a few weeks old.

Ok, so I'm still pretty impressed with this trash can and I've had it about a month. I guess it makes me feel "cool" to own it.. sad I know, but everyone who comes over thinks it's neat. Anyway, I got it at a GREAT price on walmart.com vs the prices for the same or similar trashcans at the actual walmart store and or competitors (Target, Bed,Bath&Beyond, Home Depot, HomeGoods, etc.). Most were $40+ more for the same size/features. I remember reading other reviews saying this wasn't very durable. I could see how it could be dented, but I am single, have no animals or kids so I don't see it getting dented easily. Appearance wise - it's nice, but come on, it's a trashcan, so I rated it 4 stars. lol Hope this is helpful.

I love this trash can. I had a step-pedal can for years, and this is great. The motion sensor works, and I can tell from the design it's going to be easier to keep clean than the interior bucket of the old step-pedal. I didn't have any batteries in the house when I brought it home, and the lid opens easily without a battery, should you need to.

I liked this one better than the round version by Nine Stars that had been offered for sale at Costco. Also, the one at Costco used a light touch from your foot to activate the lid opening. Reading some reviews on this version from Walmart, I was concerned that there would be too much of a delayed opening making choosing this one over Costco a regret. Pleased to say that if there is a delay, it is but a split second and I don't notice it. Works as described. An infrared sensor detects when your hand/body is nearby and opens the lid. You pretty much need to be right there before it is activated. There are also open/close buttons that you can use if you want to keep the lid open for some reason. Some have reported auto opening when walking by, we have ours in a corner, so we have not had that issue. Finally, it does not come with the three C size batteries, which was no big deal. I have C adapters and can run AA rechargeable Eneloop batteries, which worked fine. The instructions "require" you to register your device via mail in order to get the one year warranty. Doubt that not sending it in would void the warranty . . . they did say "Please", so why not, I sent it in with a copy of the receipt. If it works for a year, my guess is that it will work for several years as most things that won't last, fall apart with-in a year especially everyday use. It actually has a nice look in the kitchen, not very often you can say that about a trash can. Easy to use, even my two year-old boy has fun throwing away trash, though we have to be careful to make sure it is real trash.
