Pellets

I think they are a good burning pellet. The price could not be beat. Pick up of pellets was easy. I loaded a ton on my truck and was able to go back for the second ton. Most other places do not allow that. ( you have to take them in one load, I guess they want you to pay 60-70 dollars more for delivery). But I am very happy with the Pennington Fuel Pellets and if I need more will purchase Pennington.

Good pellets

I try to get these pellets every year. They burn clean and do not leave clinkers in the burn pot or sticky residue on the glass and combustion chamber of my stove. They also seem to have more heat content than pellets made from softer wood. I usually buy a ton and go back later in the winter to get more. Last winter I ran out of pellets before cold weather ended and could not get more of these. I had to use an inferior pellet from another supply. This year I stocked up with enough to last all winter. Not taking a chance of running out this year.

Something's Changed.....

These Pennington pellets used to be my favorites based on quality and price. 2 years ago they sold for $4.88 per bag, I believe. Last year they were just over $5. Now we're at $5.49. But the more important issue is this - something has changed in the manufacturing process. I'm noticing far more ash buildup in my burn chamber than I used to. I used to be able to go 2-3 days before I needed to clean the chamber, but now I have to clean it twice per day. And if you don't....you get the dreaded "misfire" and have to reset your pellet stove. Unless they can figure out what went wrong and fix this, I'll probably start shopping for another brand. And I average about 200 bags each winter.

strong odor

These are not the best pellets I have ever used, and probably won't get the again. They have a very strong unpleasant odor and a LOT of ash. Usually clean my stove weekly, with these I am cleaning ash out about every 3rd day. On a good note though, I have experienced very few clinkers

Sam's Highest Price For Pellets in Town?

I'm a big fan of Sam's but am very disappointed their price for a bag of pellets is $1.00 to $1.50 higher than the competition.

Very dusty!

I've used several brand of pellets and these are by far the dustiest. I'm surprised that a company like Pennington would put their name on an inferior product.
