Spend a little more and get a better printer

Not happy with printer. May return it. Have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to print anything every time. Power button just flashes and it is frozen

Nice Printer when connected

Great print quality and it was very easy to setup. However, I've had trouble keeping the printer online. I've had to reinstall the printer a couple of time within the first month. Seems HP may have a software glitch.

Need cord to setup

Doesn't come with vital usb cord that you need to set it up. Had to spend more money and wait for it to come in the mail before I could use the printer.

This is the slowest printer I purchased

I cannot believe I purchased this printer. I guess because the color matched my computer. I currently have two other printers, both which are more current than this one. I guess I did not realized the numbers actually mean something. It is the slowest printer I ever had. I think it prints one page per minute (seriously). Then I obviously was not focused when I purchased it because it does not print front to back. You have to manually flip the page over to print on the back. I am so over that. I am seriously thinking about returning the printer because I went back to my old printers. Really when you can print out four pages before this printer prints out one page, that's pretty bad. On the behalf of the printer. I did not do my research. I needed a printer with speed. I needed a printer that prints double-sided.

Would never connect to our WiFi

I don't know what it is with hp but we have had so much trouble with anything we buy from them. We have an hp laptop that had a hard time connecting to our WiFi when we first got it. We figured out how to solve that problem and the laptop works just fine now. With this printer I tried everything I could think of and almost everything I found on google to get it to connect to our WiFi. It never happened. Very frustrating. We had to return it.

Not exactly what I expected HP deskjet plus 4158

I installed this printer on 2 computers and had no problems. The install on the 3rd computer wasn't so good. The install crashed about 1/2 way through. HP support spent about 1 hour in remote access and couldn't get it to work. They referred me to the 2nd level of support and the second level spent about 2 hours and couldn't get it installed. I was told that there was something wrong with Windows 10 on that computer, but they didn't know what it was and that I should do a full computer reset and see if that fixes it. That requires that all personal data be saved and then reloaded. I am not sure that I want to do that. Also, the ink cartridges that came with the printer have very little ink in them and I ran out of color before the 'Instant ink' shipment got here. Fortunately, I had already bought a backup black and color HP67 cartridge and I am now using the color one, since the instant ink is about 1 week out. The scanning has to be done from the computer. There is no button on the printer to be pushed to scan. Also you have to set the preferred settings each time for the scan. You have to do the same thing on the HP Smart Scan settings for the printer operations too. If you want to print 4 pictures to a full size paper, the software won't remember that this is your preferred (or default) selection. So you have to re-enter it each time you start to print.

Ink-Rich, Pokey Printer Loses WIFI Mind

I have a fast FIOS WIFI, but this printer is stoic in its slow pace printing. The printer's WIFI setup, like Elvis, just "left the building" one day. I wasted 2 hours wandering HP help files before I unplugged it to reboot, ala Tech Support 101. An automatic ink refill in week 2 is probably 3 months early. Printing quality is good, but not stellar. So overall, this printer is "meh." Really, it's just fine. You know, its a solid "OK."

Easier to uso with laptop or app instead of the bottons in the printer. Very usefull only down side is it does not have two face printing.

Double side print (NOT)

Good build and holds a fair amount of paper. One would expect this day and age that all printers have the ability to print on both sides in order to conserve paper, this one does not and should say so in the description.

Non Tech Savvy Girl

Did not come with instructions unless you went on line. I am not that tech savvy so it took me awhile but I did it! Has worked great but does go through the ink cartridges fast and I am having a hard time finding them in the store or on line. I think with people working from home there is a higher demand??? All in all, a good product for the price.
