This set was a gift for my picky daughter. She wasn't sure until she used them. She loves them.

Not overly impressed. I really wanted the self-sharpening knife block and I trusted the Henckels brand. The top stainless [?] plate of the knife block is very poorly machined and does not align fully with the top of the wood block. It is firmly attached and I am not going to try to take it apart to fix it, which I doubt would work anyway. It is skewed out of shape. This gives the overall appearance of a very cheap set, which at this price, is rather upsetting. While the angle of the block makes it easy to remove/insert the knives, it also creates a larger footprint on the counter. The base of the block measures 12" long, so it sticks out quite a bit. So far, I have used the Chef's knife, the Sandoku knife, the Paring Knife, the Utility knife, and the scissors. The knives are not extremely sharp even after running them back and forth a few times across the built-in sharpeners. The scissors are sharp, but look and feel very cheap [rough edges on the grips]. Overall, they are okay, but I would not recommend this particular set. Just don't seem to be a very good value for the price.

I've been eyeing this knife set and block for a while now from other retailers and I'm so happy I found this for a great price at Sam's! Do your research and you too will see, outside of Wusthoff, this is a great bargain for the quality!
