Exactly What I Expected
On Christmas Eve I purchased the Step2 LifeStyle Custom Kitchen, so I had to wait until my daughter went to sleep before I could put it together. Reading the prior reviews, I knew that it may be a little difficult to put together (because of the screws) but I figured I could easily tackle it. The holes weren't even started in some places so I had to pull out a hammer and nail. It was a bit frustrating at times (more so because it was 2am on Christmas) and I'm sure the neighbors didn't take too kindly to the pounding but it was well worth it! It took about 2 hours to finish. My 3 year old loves it and the accessories (pans, dishes, utensils) were a nice addition. I purchased several food items from another store for about 5 dollars. My only suggestion would be for the manufacturer to pre drill some of the holes. Overall it looks great and should last for awhile. Thanks.
Play Kitchen
Fairly easy to put together. Decal stickers were a bit intense. I can't figure out why they need huge metal screws to put together a plastic kitchen, but they work. My 2 year old LOVES it and plays with it all day long. The stove is cute how it sizzles with the frying pan and then it bubbles when the pot goes on the burner. The phone was an added bonus as it has a lot of ringtones with the buttons. Great buy!
Excellent Value
I am sure there are better kitchens out there, but in terms of value for your dollar, I don't think that you can top this kitchen. There are plenty of things to play with in this kitchen. The down side is that you have to drill several holes yourself, which is not easy. If you are not saavy with drilling things, I would make sure you have some one on hand to help you. But other than that, my two girls just love this kitchen, and I have seen it occupy them all day long! They are totally in love with it. It comes with two bowls, two plates, some silverware, a pot and a pan (which boils/sizzles respectively on the stove). Hours of creative play.
My Niece Loved It!
I bought this for my two year old niece's birthday. All the kids were excited and joined her in playing with it, from my one year old to her seven year old cousin. The cooking sounds are great and realistic. I am glad I read the reviews ahead of time and brought a cordless drill to help put it together. I'm not sure I could have made the holes with a screwdriver. **You need a tiny Phillips-head screwdriver to install the batteries.** My only complaint it that the stove door didn't stay closed. It was just out of square enough - but my husband folded up a piece of tape and then taped it to the top and it was enough to make it stay closed. So no big deal. I bought extra food because the set doesn't have any and the cookware that I bought was too large. But no one seemed to notice!
Perfect sized play kitchen! Daughter was ecstatic!
My husband and I wanted to surprise our daughter by taking her out to get a new toy and she had seen a kitchen in an actual Walmart store called "I Wish I was" Well needless to say it was a joke, I mean the microwave door just fell off when she opened it! So we searched and searched and made notes about every kitchen we could find. If we were going to get her something like this, we were going to find a nice, sturdy one she could have fun with. This one most DEFINITELY fit the bill! When we bought it, it was on sale for only 78$ which was worlds cheaper than most of the other kitchens we found. I mean, Holy Moly 200$+ that was way beyond our price point. While this kitchen doesn't have a keypad on the microwave or the oven it doesn't seem to phase our daughter as she just says "beep" on her own. Haha. Putting it together was kind of a pain, but only because there are literally no holes to use as a base. And DONT use a screwdriver! In the manual the guy is using a screwdriver and not a powerdrill, save your arm strength and just use a drill. I used the smaller screws to make a basic hole though, because the initial bolts are SUPER long and if you don't put enough pressure they'll constantly fall off the drill. *Grrr..* But after I made base holes in every spot before I put ANYTHING together it made it soooo much easier. (Just a thought for those of us that can't use enough strength to shove a almost 3 inch bolt with no predrilled hole) Other than that, setup was super easy. The kitchen is VERY sturdy, yet light enough to drag all over the house if my daughter decides she wants to be in the living room instead of the kitchen. The silverware drawer fits her play utensils and the basket and cabinets fit quite a bit of food. The fridge even has a shelf so she organizes her milks and juices. The decor is so pretty looking and looks great in any kitchen in my opinion, and while the dish rack does hold the bowls and plates, it doesn't hold the cups so I just used the long hooked Command Strips to put two up above her dish holder, it works great and my daughter can put her cups up. I don't know what some people are saying about this being too small though, my girl is 2 and 35 inches and it's still taller then her. I have to say my only disappointment is that it doesn't make more sounds, but my little one seems to figured out a way around that! This was a fantastic buy and worth every penny! So save some searching if you want something within budget and super sturdy and go with this one, you won't regret it!
Great product for children
I bought this kitchen set for my 22 month old granddaughter. The item took quite some time to assemble, but it was not difficult. Just a screwdriver was needed. The kitchen set is really cute, and my granddaughter has played non-stop with it. The best part is the burner that makes cooking sounds. She has fake french fries that she places in the pot and cooks with authentic sounds. The only problem is that the microwave door is tight and hard for her to open. She pulls hard and gets it open. I would highly recommend this set.
Step2 LifeStyle Custom Kitchen
This is a great play kitchen. My children love it. It is easy to assemble. I assembled it with just a regular screwdriver. It is also very durable. The price is also affordable. My children have played with it for hours and hours and we haven't even had it a week.
Great value and cute kitchen
Santa brought this for my 17 mos. old daughter. She loves it and I'd recommend it to other parents wanting a stylish kitchen for kids 1-4. Even though it's plastic, it seems well made and was easy to assemble ("Santa" did it in less than an hour!). It comes with decals, which can be tricky to put on--but so long as you're careful with them they should look great. I like that the colors match my home's color scheme so that I don't mind having it in the middle of the living room. I think my daughter will get years of use from it.
Nice little kitchen
This is the best quality kitchen for the money. It is very sturdy and easy to put together, and just the perfect size for our 3 year old granddaughter. Excellent buy as I think it will last a long time! Don't be fooled by the cheapie ones...spend the extra 30.00 and you'll be much happier with this one.
Good product
I bought this product for my two youngest granddaughters. They are thrilled with it, as this was my main concern, so I am also thrilled. From a personal stand point, I thought the product was well made, had plenty of activity areas to keep two little girls busy, very colorful, all the things that attract children. I loved the convenience of shoping on line and just picking up my product.
