Easy to use

Bought to replace 12y/o Cuisinart toaster oven. KitchenAid is sturdy & easy to use. One minor complaint: toaster function takes too long to produce a "perfectly" toasted piece of bread or english muffin.

Very stylish

I love the convenience of using the toaster oven vs the regular oven. I have checked the oven temperature with a thermometer and it's quite accurate.

Well Bilt and convenient!

I bought this as a replacement and find it is a much nicer unit than the one I had. It is very sturdy. The shelves move easily and the controls are all convient!

Faulty "Function" switch/fire hazard

I've owned my convection toaster oven for just under a year, and purchased it for Kitchenaid's perceived superior quality standards. Just like other reviewers mentioned, the "Function" knob became stuck a few months after purchase. The oven was permanently stuck in "Bake" mode, as switching to any another mode via the "Function" knob would fail to activate power (the "Power" light, located at the bottom right-hand corner under the switch knobs, wouldn't turn on in any other mode, so the oven wouldn't work). I used "Bake" mode for toasting bread and for all oven duties, which worked, and was why I chose to keep and use the oven until now. Recently, just like reviewer "Ahamakama" mentioned, the "Function" switch (the actual switch inside the right-hand side of the oven cabinet) started smoking. The issue didn't progress to sparks or open flame, but every time the oven is used now, smoke is clearly noticeable from the switch area behind the knobs. The oven is unplugged and no longer in use due to it being a potential fire hazard. I'm hoping that Kitchenaid will stand by their product and resolve the issue. The switches may require a redesign in order to prevent failures that could ultimately be catastrophic. Would not recommend the oven in its current state due to the faulty/suspect switches, but the oven functioned well before the switch failure, which is reflected in my product ratings.

HAPPENED TO ME TOO....?!??!!!!

GOT MINE LAST XMAS AS A GIFT..... broke 11 months later. READ THE REVIEWS OF ONLY TOAST FUNCTION WORKING, AND REALIZED THAT KITCHENAIDE WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THEM TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CONSIDERING THEIR REPUTATION, & THE FACT MY PREVIOUS ONE LASTED 12 YEARS.

Very disappointed

I have now purchased this oven twice, each time having to return it to the store..... it works great for a week or two, but then it begins to have issues. Both times, the fan located on the right side panel of the oven, has issues. It is very quiet when new, but give it a couple of weeks and it starts making an obnoxiously loud humming sound. Both ovens of this same model have had the exact same problem. I love the functionality of this oven but this model clearly has issues with durability. I am considering trying again for a 3rd time... but may just have to go with a different brand. Overall, very dossappointed

Would probably not buy again

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) First one died in 2 weeks, customer service was great got my replacement within 3 days after calling them. One thing I don't like and if I had known I would have looked elsewhere. It's just big enough my small pizza stone fits. On bake both top and bottom elements are on so pizza burnt on the top before the rest was ready. Will work fine if food is covered but if not it burns the top of food. Don't use it for toast as it tends to dry the bread out before finished. Tried it on warm but bottom element never shut off so don't know if thermostat has any control here or not. Checked temp with a digital thermometer and it was within 10 deg. at 350 which seems pretty good.

Stopped working! I wouldn't recommend it

I bought this oven 3 1/2 years ago. I worked fine when suddenly the bake stopped working. The toaster portion is still working but I have a toaster and I used it for baking. It is used seldom and in like new condition so not sure how long it would have lasted had it been used on a regular basis.

This is a must have for every kitchen!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are very happy with this product. It is not only a toaster oven but a convection oven! Food cooks fast and evenly. When we don't have enough to fire up the big oven we use this. When the big oven is in use we use this also. Great purchase!

*UPDATE* FUNCTION SWITCH ELECTRICAL FIRE

Note: I had to use a new nickname and email address since the website would not allow me to update my previous review. I posted a review for my KitchenAid compact oven, model KCO253CU, two days ago. When the oven was powered on, there was a very noticeable smoky smell emanating from the cabinet behind the switch knobs. Today, while using the oven to toast bread in "Bake" mode (since the oven didn't work in any other mode), I heard a loud "puff", and saw a fireball erupt from the right-hand side of the cabinet through the vents. I unplugged the oven and put out the flame immediately. After allowing the oven to cool, I disassembled the cabinet to assess the damage. The attached pictures should leave no doubt as to the very real concerns regarding this model. Owners/users beware - there is a serious and potentially dangerous flaw regarding the switches on this appliance, regardless of how it might be performing for you at the moment. Until KitchenAid clearly states that the issue has been investigated and resolved, I do not recommend purchasing or using this model appliance.
