This Generator is a Life Saver
I live in Louisiana I'm 38 year old dad of three kids that just lost my wife to cancer she was my "high school sweetheart”and loving mother of our kids and our area just recently got hit by Hurricane Laura. The storm took out a 100% of the towns power and knew it would take a long time to restore all the power and we all know how it is with no power so I drove to another town not hit by the hurricane and purchased what I would call a life saver and the best purchase Iv ever made the Generac RS5500 Iv heard nothing but good about this brand so I had to see if it held up to its reputation I got it home it was easy to put together very detailed instructions and steps for operating and maintenance it also came with a heavy duty 220v to 120v extension cord with a 4 way plug in to run your regular extension cords off of and I love they included that with the generator because that cord alone is very expensive to buy and very useful it also came with break in oil to get you started so straight out the box I was impressed but could it run and operate as good as it's reputation was and I'm here to tell you it 100% did run and operate as good as it's reputation. The first pull and it cranked right up I plugged in everything we needed and still had more power I could have used off of it. I ran this generator only stopping it for its break in oil change and oil changes and Maintence checks after that. This generator ran like this for two weeks until power was restored and I'm here to tell you as a dad with kids needing to keep them cool and have almost all the functions we would with power this generator did it all even my kids were impressed on how it could run that long and that good and they were happy to see there dad not having to struggle fixing something or seeing the frustration in me of something going wrong or breaking down so that In itself should show any future people looking for a reliable generator easy to operate worry free generator that this is the brand to buy don't even hesitate on which brand to purchase I'm telling you Generac Generators is the only brand you need to buy unless you want to purchase another brand and have the thought of worrying if it will crank or break down so if you want a worry free piece of equipment that helps your family not only survive but survive comfortably and a brand you can count on then do what this dad did Buy a Generac Generator and your love ones will thank you because it's not only a Generac it's a Life Saver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just what I needed at the time
The power went out and they kept extending the estimate on when it would be back on, so so I needed something in a pinch. 90 degrees plus outside and not on city water so I needed 220 volts for the water pump and still enough for the fridge and freezer. As it turned out I was even able to run my air conditioning! it would kick out a little if the pump kicked in though and wait 5 minutes to turn back on...safety feature for the AC compressor. BUT IT WORKED OUT WELL! probably the only house in the area able to have AC. It starts easy and was easy to set up but it is a noisier than I expected it would be.
unit has the features of an industrial generator
as an electrician and construction engineer I recommend this unit. gp7500e. after an extensive search by retailers and the internet this is the best unit. solid welded steel construction, outdoor protected receptacles, easy to read labeling, and directions. shipped on heavy duty pallet and boxing.controls easy to use,gas on off, start stop switch, hour meter, choke, filter access, circuit breakers resets, battery solidly bolted in place. starts every time.
Lot Of Bang For Your Buck!
I purchased one of the older versions of the GP15000 and have used it in many different applications. Ranging from running out door sound, stage and lighting for various different music festivals I have help run to running an entire 3 BR 2 Bath house with a 3 ton AC unit. The engine used on these generators are easy to maintain and are extremely durable. With a huge 16 US Gal. fuel tank, I have had my generator run as long as 8 to 10 hours, depending on the load within my household, and last me an entire night running my stage setup I have. Love the fact that there is a lift point on the generator to be able to use lifting equipment like an engine hoist to pickup my generator and place in the back of my van to transport. (Generator weighs in over 350 pounds) I also love the feature of having the large inflatable wheels to move such generator around without having to exhaust a lot of energy. Plenty of standard household 5-20R duplex wall outlets (One of the 5-20R duplex outlet is GFI ) to having the mammoth L-14 50A 120/240V AC outlet for large loads. If you are ever in the market for a high power output generator and need it to be portable, The GP15000 and the GP-17500 is the go to power plant.
Very pleased!
This is a powerful unit that will meet our needs during an outage. For us, it will power the heat strips on the furnace, our water pump, the refrigerator, microwave and enough lights to see our way through. We are very happy with our purchase and as we always say...we hope we never have to use it!
It would have been nice if it worked when I needed it most
I purchased the Generac 7500E model generator approx 18 months ago from Costco. The deal that I got on it made it a no-brainer to buy there. After getting it home and out of the box, set up was a breeze. I simply put in the oil that came with it (we'll get back to this) and fueled it up, it ran like a champ. Every 4-6 weeks I start it up and let it run. I don't keep much if any gas in it while it is stored as I make it a habit to run it out of gas. This past week Mid-Michigan got pummeled by an ice storm that left us without power from Sunday 12/22/2013 at 3:03 AM until Wednesday 12/25/2013 at approx 3:30 PM. No problem right, I have a generator. I got up threw the breaker box to off, went through my start up procedure in the freezing cold of the night and had my house running with power again in approx 20 minutes time. After everything was back in order, I went back to bed and laid there listening to the generator. After it had been running for about an hour I heard it turn off. I went to check on it only to find that it would not start. I was full of gas and had been running just fine. The electric start had the engine wanting to fire, but it would not turn over. I got it into an authorized dealer the next day, Monday. It was not ready for pick up until Friday 12/27/2013. The diagnosis, it was overfilled with oil. Now, as I said, I set this up with the oil that was provided by Generac. As I remember it, a premeasured amount. I have never added to the oil. My only guess is that when my unit was tested at the factory, the oil was never completely drained. The time I needed it most and it had run the longest, less than one hour, IT FAILED.
Reliable And Dependable
Purchased this generator due to a prolonged power outage in the Northeast in October. Didn't want that to happen again, especially during the cold winter months. Setup and startup were a breeze, and the generator fired up on the first pull. The piece of mind knowing I will have back up power for our furnace and essential appliances is worth the cost paid.
power plant of a generator.
This is a great generator for our entire house. No shortage of power and seems to be built solid. I really like the fact that it came with a battery charger to ensure its always ready to go. It's a little loud but not outrageous. Great generator dollar for dollar. We are ready for another ice storm with this Generac.
GP7500E
Just unpacked my new GP7500E. Easy setup to get running. Powered a few items just to test the generator. Will be easy enough for my wife to use before I can get home. Only disappointment was that there wasn't the extra cord included (twist lock to 3 plugs) but not a deal breaker.
excellent backup
I own a home in Alaska. Power outages are frequent outside the city, and it's dark a lot in the winter. I needed something to power some lights and a portable heater to keep a room warm during extended outages. Excellent bang for my buck. The on/off switch broke the 2nd time I used this unit, but I just went to the hardware store and picked up a toggle switch and wired it in myself. No biggie.
