What's to recomend??????

I've only used Morton Pool Salt since I converted my pool from tablet chlorine to using salt water with a chlorine generator. Morton's is cheaper than most store brand salt.

Excellent value but a bit salty.

This is certainly the right price per pound for, well, salt. If you're buying on-line make sure you get a 'ready for pick-up' e-mail confirmation B4 heading to the store. Product performs as advertised; weighs 40 lb's and dissolves in water.

Would not dissolve now days after

Read bad reviews on Clorox pool salt and good reviews here on Morton —so I tried it and it's awful. Won't dissolve and clogged first mesh pool filter. Not impressed. This is a photo 2 days later from the pool robot vacuum filter.

store under renovation. checking out takes longer than shopping. now front end has lots of employees that watch self checkouts instead of manning checkout lanes themselves.

Did the Job

Did not dissolve quickly when placed in 5 gallon bucket with water. Also turned a scummy brown skim on top. But in the end the salt did its job. Just not as well as other brand.

I have been staying with one brand since I found out Wal-Mart carries this pool salt. I was buying from a pool supply store, but once I found out that Wal-Mart carries pool salt I made the switch, plus there right here in my home town.

Not what I was hoping for

I was sold this salt as a replacement for ice melt to put on my icy sidewalks. Walmart was sold out of the ice melt and suggested this. I dumped it on my ice and it didn't melt it. Maybe you have to put it down before the storm and it won't stick where you put the ice. Will have to try that before the next storm.

I bought an Intex pool this summer which uses the Krystal Clear saltwater system with a sand pump. The instruction called for 12 ½ bag for the 32x18 foot pool. Added the salt without any problems, began to run the system for 8 hours per day (after running 24 hours as stated) but 4 days later the Electrolytic cell become gummed and crystallize to where the salt system stops working. I have disassemble the salt system every 4 days, add vinegar for about 1 hour then reassemble the salt system. Works again for 4 days and have to repeat the above. I've had 2 different pool company's test the water (once a week over the past 6 weeks) and every time the test shows no chlorine and acid low. I've called Intex about the problem and they sent me a new Electrolytic cell but still have the problem. The instructions calls for 99.8% pure salt to be used. This bag does not tell you the salt pure just states “high purity salt”. What does that mean?. I've emailed Morton over two weeks ago and have not heard from them. I do not recommend anyone to buy this bag if your pool/spa is calling for a % pure salt.
