Best price I could find

This is the third time I have purchased these items from Walmart. They have the best price and the shelving is really sturdy and top quality. I use ten in a commercial setting and they are just as good as the commercial type ones except they are about a quarter of the price. Very impressed. About to place an order for 5 more.

Good shelves but major design flaw

This is my sixth shelving unit. Assembly of the lower half is easy to do, even by myself. It's the attaching the upper rails that's the problem. It's difficult to get the shelf brackets to stay in the "closed" position when building the upper section. That part actually takes three people to keep the posts upright, straight and in position. There's got to be a better way! The shelves are particle board, which is OK as long as you limit the total weight on each shelf. On my "heavy" units, I went to the lumber yard and had them cut exterior grade half inch plywood to use as shelves. Works great!

Get thicker shelves!

I can't be too critical of these shelves as we have had them for over two years now. IF we used the shelves out of the box and did not modify them at all, they would fail, and did fail almost immediately. There is no support in between posts, so the lateral frame pieces can bow and flex quite a bit, causing the shelf to be able to fall. When storing canning jars, this isn't ideal. So we have large zip ties pulling the two opposing sides in. The shelves themselves are VERY thin MDF particle board. Probably the last thing you would ever want for a storage shelf. I would take cardboard over this stuff honestly. The shelves are sagging quite a bit now, like at least 2". But they are holding the weight of canned goods, canning jars, full storage bins, etc. so I can't complain all that much. We will be upgrading this year though to something with better support and metal shelves.

Less spacious than other 4 shelf units

The unit is poorly designed to pretty much assure you will not be able to take advantage of the space it could have to offer. Between the too thick cross brackets and the lack of connecting brace between the two height bars, you lose almost an entire foot of space that could fit larger containers and boxes. I have been able to use more space on a similar unit that has only 4 shelves. Terrible design.

Hard to install, made for light storage

Assembly was harder than expected. A lot of hammer pounding. They say light tap, but there's no way the bars are going in tapping lightly. Had to use a real hammer and put rags on top and really pound it in. There's no way it can support the claimed weight unless the weight rests on the bars. Put less than 100 lbs on the panels and it's going to bend. What a waste.

Affordable and versatile

We were able to split our 1 shelving unit into 2 - one with 3 shelves and the other with 2 shelves. That really worked perfectly for us. The shelves are made of a particle board material. Wouldve been nice to have more like metal grates, but for the price of this and getting 2 storage shelving units, that was awesome. Assembly was fairly easy but you really need 2 people to do this,

I've purchased 5 of these!

Love it. Easy to assemble and sturdy. I initially purchased 2 racks, then one more, then another one adn now another one. I have a total of 5 of these racks in my home. They are great for storing items in my basement and they make it easy to organize everything. I only purchase this rack system on sale at under $80.

gift for hubby

Bought 3 for hubby's new shop and they were 6 feet tall x 4 feet wide by 2 feet deep & very high quality for the money. They came with all hardware installed so only need to fit together to assemble. He really likes these and they are large enough to hold all the car and bike parts in his collection.

Frame is good but shelves are smelling

It would be much better if they can replace the smelly wooden shelves with some good material. I had to paint the shelves to remove the smell that was all around. I put the shelves outside for a couple of days to get rid of the smell but that gone warped.
