Basement shelves

The shelves work fine for basement or garage storage. They must be leveled, however, to keep the shelves from working loose -- given the way that the unit is held together. Shelving material is extremely heavy -- made of particle board. As a result, I could lift the entire package only enough to drag it through the door. Had to open the box and take the pieces in tranches to where I set the shelving up. They are a good bargain at the price that I paid when compared to other shelving that would have done the same job.

Garage Storage Solutions

Arrived in a timely manner. Delivery guy was nice enough to set them in my garage. Simplest things ever to assemble. Nothing needed but a rubber mallet. I bough two. I only had 8 feet to work with and they fit perfectly. I was disappointed they weren't a little taller after assembly, only because I needed to fit totes on them. Should have measured the totes when spacing out the shelves. My bad, lol. Still they are in position and ready for the ultimate organization. Thanks Walmart for the bargain!

Very Good Shelving

Easy to put together. Very Good shelf for this particular need. You will have to consider purchasing new wood shelving as the shelves that come with it will not withstand heavy loads for long periods of time. Also do not get the shelving wet. All in all, though; a great product.

Terrible

The side support beams come in two pieces. One of the shelves must be used to join the two pieces together. The problem is that it is impossible to get the thin metal of the beams to line up perfectly and the top beam basically just balances on the bottom beam. Really poor design. If you can get the top to stay in place, it is flimsy and feels like it will collapse at any moment. Don't waste your money.

Sturdy shelves should use plywood

These shelves now come with couplers for the vertical sections, so you can put the center shelf wherever you want. They are easy to assemble, and seem stable once assembled. My big recommendation is to replace the particle board shelves with plywood, which is lighter and MUCH stronger. One of my shelves had been broken in shipping, which wouldn't have happened with plywood. At local lumber costs, it would be about $2 per shelf ($10 total) extra for plywood over particle board, and you would probably save half of that on shipping costs and less shipping damage. So for about $5 increase in price, you could use plywood, which would be a huge improvement in strength, weight, and quality.

Flimsy wood.

We bought this for our canned goods. It went together nicely, both my husband and I worked on it. I would definitely recommend two people to set it up although my husband told me he has put a shelf like this together by himself before. I'm a little disappointed with the wood. It's flimsy and bows in the middle. I have my cans of food storage and my own personal canned items on the shelves and I'm worried that the wood will slip out of the grooves on the side or that it will break in half. I'm considering getting stronger wood for my shelves.

Fine once assembled. Assembly is terrible

I purchased 10 of these things. I wish I had spent just a little bit more on something that at least has a coupler between the top and the bottom sections. This thing will fight you at every step and as others have mentioned you have to put a shelf in the middle to join the top and bottom. The biggest tip I can give you is to use side supports in temporary positions to keep the uprights rigid. Once the top and bottom are joined you can re-adjust the desired height.

great size and very sturdy

Warning: The box is very heavy, and it will take two people to move it inside after delivery. Yet, I easily put it together by myself (assemble in the spot you want the shelf). So far, I have used these to hold a combination of bins with clothes, purses and shoes. I purchased three of these shelves almost two years ago and am still very happy with my purchase.

love this shelf

I bought two of these to use out in our shed. They are very sturdy and hold a lot more than I thought. My only complaint is it was hard to put this together by myself. Definitely a two man job. But other than that I love how easy it is to fit a ton of stuff on the shelves and not have to worry about them collapsing or falling over.

Great price/good quality

This rack is less expensive than the ones at my local home improvement store. It IS of a slightly thinner gauge material, but I am not storing cinder blocks on it. The plus for me was to have the options of it being shipped to the store for free. Saved me money and I don't have to worry about packages sitting unattended until I get home from work.
