Awesome TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is truly a "state of the art" television. Love the picture quality and the magic remote. I wish there was a way to set the audio to both the sound bar and the TV's internal speakers. It must be one or the other.

outstanding TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] absolutely outstanding television, amazing picture. Calibration more complicated than it needs to be, and compatibility with Apple devices would be nice. But these are the only small drawbacks for what is the best TV I've ever seen.

Auto-dimming function needs to be fixed

I felt very fortunate to be able to purchase this set back in August after reading the many glowing reviews about the picture quality. While the picture is indeed excellent it has unfortunately been overshadowed by a major issue with the internal Auto Brightness Limiting (ABL) function. While watching a wide range of HDR content across multiple sources/components, the brightness level of certain scenes/shots will noticeably fade in and out based on the brightness content relative to the previous outgoing scene/shot. It is especially noticeable during brighter outdoor daytime scenes/shots. This is apparently a function built into all OLED sets to protect the screen and prolong the life of the TV but it seems like LG got the algorithm wrong for the C8 line and there is a very noticeable half second lag when it kicks in. Some viewers may not notice or care about this issue but I have a feeling that at this price point many potential buyers are as critical about their viewing experience as I am and will not be happy with the prospect of constantly seeing this. I find it distracting to the point that it takes me out of any programming I'm watching and focuses my attention back on the problem.

replaces 2014 purchase of 55LE8500.

Picture improvement is most evident in viewing recent best-HD programming. Since I expected limited sound in such a compact unit, I purchased the LG SK5Y and glad for the enriched sound provided. I only wish the soundbar setting would appear on-screen like the built-in sound level appears on screen since I use both. Although I had Geek Squad installation, I found that their settings weren't what I wanted. I use both built-in and soundbar so here's my setting: Sound Out = Internal + Optical; Dolby Atmos ON; Adaptive Sound Control ON; One Touch Sound Tuning OFF; AV Sync Adjustment ON set to 3 which gets rid of echo between built-in and soundbar. But you can see why it would be nice to see the soundbar setting on screen. With movies I have the soundbar set high with bass set lower to minimize "boominess" and built-in sound about level 40. Although Geek Squad recommended Cinema picture setting, I like HDR Effect much better for richer color and better balance between dark and light. I found Cinema setting did not.

Beautiful picture!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I kept putting off upgrading my old HD TV for as long as I could, but it was time. I'd read the reviews for the LG OLED and even though it was twice as much as I had planned on spending, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The colors and detail are simply stunning. It was easy to set up right out of the box. Alexa found it right away. I'm not truly a fan of the smart remote being that it wouldn't pick up my cable box, but my current remote works well with it, so that's only a minor flaw. All in all, I'm thrilled with this TV and highly recommend it if your pocketbook can handle it.

Excellent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beautiful television with excellent color reproduction, a plethora of features, and beautiful 4K. The silver stand is heavy duty and very classy (it unexpectedly matched the gunmetal fireplace frame we have beneath it). Controls are intuitive yet extensive for the advanced user. I currently have it hooked up to a media PC and have been very pleased with the response rate and reproduction of movies and games. I haven't encountered any flaws other than the energy efficiency sticker which was extremely hard to remove from the screen. Will update the review if any issues arise.

great TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a little over a month ago, At first I was dissatisfied because the sound was not synced to there movement of there mouths, on live TV. Then I wanted the 5.1 surround sound and went out and bought the LGSY10 I believe and hooked it up with just the optic cable and man what a difference. Perfect!!! sound ,voice is all spot on sound is beautiful . Great TV.

As good as they said...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've only had the set for a week, but after sampling a variety of sources on the tv, I have to admit the picture is absolutely stunning. The colors are rich and vibrant when using HDR materials. Black levels are just as impressive as everyone says too. The OS is a little overwhelming at first since there are so many options but I definitely prefer it to TVs running Android. Love the remote as well. The pointer is really cool to use, very unique and unlike anything on any other tv brand I've seen. Since this is an OLED, I am a little concerned about the possibility of burn-in since there are quite a few horror stories out there about it. I don't really watch stuff with a lot of static images but I'm hoping for the best anyway. Honestly, I would certainly recommend this tv to anyone who wants the best picture available today in a slim, sexy chassis. If you do ,however, watch a lot of news channels or material with static images, you would probably be better off looking at LED TVs instead.

Amazed at the contrast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am blown away by this T.V. about 6 months ago I purchased a TCL P6 for my bedroom and thought that t.v. was great. But this one is on a completely different level. I have this t.v. set up in my living room and could not be happier.
