Piece of junk

This Rubbermaid product is nothing but junk. I have bought two Keter brand boxes from Sam's in the past and they are very good but this particular Rubbermaid is a bad buy at half the price. In the picture it looks like a beige and dark brown but in real life it is light gray and medium gray if even medium.

Terrific Deck Box!!!!

I searched everywhere for a deck box....Size & Quality & affordability key to my purchase. I finally decided to try SAMS and was soooo glad I did...wish I checked here sooner. Absolutely best buy for quality, size and money. Arrived within 8 days and took only 5 minutes to put together after out of packing - which was great as well. It took 2 of us ONLY because of the size....needed one to hold two pieces up while I pushed into place. PLUS the deck box holds loads of stuff - looks great on deck and has a place for you to put a lock if you choose. You won't find a better deck box for this money - -

Poor hinge design and too many gaps

The biggest problem for me is trying to get the posts (for the hinges) on the bottom side through small holes for the hinges on the cover. I cannot hammer hard enough. Also, I am worried that bugs and mice may squeeze through the gaps between the sides. No problems putting the sides up. Put the side of the bottom that has the writing on it facing the ground. It feels weird because the cover and the sides all have the writing facing inside.

DO NOT BUY!!!

I bought this from home depot (item 1828822 - rubbermaid deck box mocha). It contains NO assembly instructions. You can find scanned .pdf instructions on the rubbermaid web site but they are nearly illegible as they appear to have degraded in the scanning process. One might think that a snap-together plastic box would be intuitive to assemble, however, you must punch out holes in the bottom. This is not mentioned in the scanned instructions on Rubbermaid's site. The pins are not sized properly to push through the hinges. In attempting to force the pins through the hinges, the plastic bends to the point of breaking. The resulting product will be unstable and dangerous. I am very disappointed in the brand, and the experienced has tarnished the image of Rubbermaid as a reliable, well made product. Other reviewers mentioned that the hinges stretch-out with repeated opening and closing of the lid. This is not a product I would recommend and chances are very good that yours will not assemble properly.

Excellent value & construction...

Solid construction and design. Works well as a "seat" and remains dry in rains. Assembly is extremely easy and, in reading other reviews, it is so sad that those who 'complain' about its wobbling and looseness have simply failed to place the bottom piece facing DOWN as printed thereon. They have the bottom facing UP and, consequently, the pieces don't lock in place... Common sense, folks, common sense ! Lastly, the two black hinge pins need to be 'driven' into place with a small hammer and narrow piece of plywood or large screwdriver (with the TOP about 1/2 open).

Easy to assemble

I purchased this to make my 84 year old mom a small raised garden. We have not yet added the soil and plants, but its a great size to stick on her deck and let her grow some plants this spring. I really think it will work great, but I guess only time will tell.........I loved it being shipped to her house, and the assembly took about 15 minutes, was clearly marked and easy to do.

Not up to expectations, but functional

We acquired this storage box recently. It was easy to assemble, except that the front and rear panels require a bit of curvature to conform to the base. Thus, the seams have large gaps that will allow insects and water to enter freely. I applied a tension strap around the girth of the box to compress the seams and applied Gorilla tape to the inside to seal the seams. My next step is to caulk the seams from the outside with clear silicone to keep out the bugs and moisture. I thought a Rubbermaid product would have been moulded to fit better. The main reason we bought this box is the available space...all other competitor boxes were too large, but seemingly better quality.

You move the Deck, & the bottom comes out

I received the Deck Box yesterday shipped to my house, I put it together today and it appears (ONLY APPEARS) well put and tight together, although you can see spaces between the seems. You move it and the bottom comes out, we feel it is like a lego, it is not tight enough and I do not think the cushions will be safe and dry on the patio. OK WALMART, THIS PIECE IS COMING BACK TO YOU, we will try the Deck Box listed on your website for $30 more, I saw better reviews for that Deck Box. Sorry, this did not work for us

Falls apart

When trying to assemble this box it was obvious the base was damaged from the mold with a ripple on one end, also the pins on the side walls do not line up properly. The walls have gaps and won't stay together, Nothing lines up correctly not even the holes for the lock. I am very disappointed...You pay more for Rubbermaid products expecting higher quality, I will definitely think twice before buying your product again.
