App is the only problem.

Love the TV except that you have to download an app to turn on 4K features! It took me forever to figure that out. I kept thinking I didn't Purchase a 4K TV. I know of a few people that I've had to help them to turn on the 4K and HDR through the app. So only for that reason I give the TV 3 stars. It's very annoying to have to download an app to turn on those features. I think it should be automatic as soon as you hook up a 4K compatible product. Like I said, other then that it's a very Superior picture on the television for the price I paid! I'm hoping they patch this in an update for the TV in the future.

Hello LiveWire, your television should display any 4K content that is provide without any needed adjustments. You may need to turn on the 'Full Color UHD' setting in the input menu but this should be able to be completed from the on screen menu. Super Easy Setup

I bought this two weeks ago and am happy with it so far. It was very easy to setup and has a nice picture. I have to have the sound way up to hear it, would probably help to have a sound bar, but think it should work well on its own, too. Overall, I am satisfied with it.

Not so smart

I bought this tv with high expectations. I did not know this brand does not work at Mexico, compared to other brands. just few features work. So, though the TV image is pretty sharp, I just have a 4K tv, not a smart one. I hope this can be fixed in a near feature since Mexico can be a very important market. Pretty good price for the TV image, not recommended for abroad.

Good TV and video quality

Once the new the update went through, the TV has worked as expected. Works especially great when mated with a vizio 5.1 surround sound system sound bar. I would have given it 5 stars, had I not had issues when the Smartcast was not working, along with many other features due to problems with the previous firmware. During that time, my TV was pretty much useless for about a week from the time that I bought it.

Vizio household

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought my first Vizio in 2010 and was sold ever since. Fast forward to 2021 and we currently have 2 Vizio tvs and are working to replace all our tvs. Great sound and flawless 4k picture make movie nights almost theater like. Get one or 3, you won't be disappointed.

Picture quality

It took a bit to fine tune the picture quality. The manufacturer presets did not dramatically improve the picture quality. Some of the settings Contrast, Color, Tint, and Sharpness are not available for fine tuning when using HDMI 1 - had to switch to "Watch Free" to fine tune the picture to my liking. Once I figured the workaround, I have an very crisp picture.

Almost Perfect!

I bought this TV for my off-grid small cabin. The 40" size is perfect. I wanted a 4K TV that I could use as a TV and as a monitor for a mini computer. This VIZIO works great for both. The 4K gives great resolution for the computer, so I can work (occasionally) at the cabin, and watch movies when it's raining. The TV connected easily to my iPhone hotspot and streams movies just fine. The only issue I had was that it does not have the HBO Max app, and no way to add it that I could figure out. The VIZIO recommendation was to run the app on the phone and AirPlay it to the TV. It never would work. Maybe because I was using mobile data and not actual hard line internet. Other than that, the Netflix and Prime Video apps worked flawlessly. I also really like the VIZIO Free TV app. It streams a few hundred cable channels so there is always something to watch.

Great tv easy to use 3rd vizio TV

This is our 3rd Vizio TV and this one was bought ot replace our aging 42 inch Vizio smart TV. This is a 50 Inch and weighs about half as much as our old one and is a lot smarter. Love the casting feature and the way it knows what input to switch to when you turn on another device that is attached i.e. DVD player. Great picture and so far love it.

Not the sharpest

Demo video is very vibrant but normal use not so much. Black is not deep and overall picture is slightly soft or hazy. We have tried adjusting and re calibrating several times. It is better if you are directly in front but loses sharpness if you move to the side. Disappointed as it does have many good features. Our older Vizio 47" actually seems better.

Hello Texastoast46, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition or 4K signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD or 4K, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD or 4K picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark.

Good clear picture

The only thing I dislike about the product is that when using a Vizio sound bar the volume is super hard to control. One goes down the other goes up. Or controls an other option on the TV. Other then that Vizio you have great products. This TV replaced old Vizio that still out shines this TVs picture quality! The old is in my bedroom now with the new one in the living room.
