Great features for the price

I brought this TV a few weeks ago. For the screen size, price, and features, this is a solid TV. Don't expect to find the picture detail to be as good as the higher-end TVs, but Vizio in general has a brighter screen than some other brands. Also, this TV works great with my Google Home and with casting from apps such as YouTube.

Great visual experience haunted by buggy firmware

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] (Note: This review is of the 2019 V-Series, aka v405-g9) The picture quality of this TV is truly excellent. And SmartCast, Visio's Smart TV interface, has a decent front end and I'm still getting firmware updates, about 2-3/yr. Bad things:. The onboard speakers are crap. Order a Vizio sound bar and the disable the onboards. You will thank me. 2nd gripe: The remote is unlit and cheap feeling (tbf, my original still works mostly every time, despite many abuses). My most negative experience with this TV has been with the stability of the firmware updates. Over the years this TV has suffered from what I can best describe as semi reproducible bugginess. The soft work glitches are not crippling but they can leave certain features disabled until the next firmware update in rare cases. In the end I think this comes down to you get what you pay for. I got a really great screen for an extremely low price and the hidden cost is that I need to unplug it into a hard restart at least once a week. I've learned to live with it ;-)

Great picture and fairly simple to set up

The picture is great. The simple buttons to access Prime, Netflix, etc. are fantastic. So simple and so quick. We had issues with the picture and the sound not synced. There is a Lip Sync setting (I've never heard of that one). I adjusted all the way up and all the way down but it didn't help. Out of desperation to avoid returning it, I dug in to all of the settings and finally found one that got it on track under the audio section. An owner's manual would have helped. Fortunately I found some info on line and I appreciate the lack of paper for recycling purposes but an owners manual being included is pretty much mandatory. Now that it's all set up, we really like it

Has issues

Had this 58 inch Smart Vizio TV for 2 1/2 months. First turn it on the volume takes about 5 minutes to balance up to normal. Otherwise you have to turn the volume very high to hear it. It has buffering issues from time to time were the picture will lag or freeze for a few seconds. Requires unplugging the TV then plugging it back in or doing a reboot. I never had these problems with other TV brands. I own a LG and a TCL. Both the same level of quality as the Vizio. Disappointed in this level of Vizio, maybe their high end TV's preform better

Very Capable TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] TV has a good layout and easy menu. Able to install a sound bar with no problem. Casting to it work great. Apple App is a little slow and glitchy however this may be this specific Tv and not a model issue.

Affordable and Awesome!

We bought this TV a month ago and have had theatrical movie nights ever since. Starting off, we didn't have any external speakers, but this TV is already equipped with great sound in the 50-90 range. We did notice some burn-in on the corners when viewed on a black background, such as start-up and on the home screen. There are also a few glitches with the apps, which may just be a feature we are not used to. When you open Netflix and search for a title, for example, if you do not fully exit the app before opening a new app, like a computer the app will stay opened in the background. This is awesome for searching around for a good movie to watch, but at some points the apps have caused the TV to freeze. We would turn the TV on and off, but even when turned back on, all apps are still on and selected to the last screen we were on. Unplugging for 15 seconds seems to reset the apps though. I recommend exiting apps before browsing on a new app. My family and I hope Disney+ is added soon, but even though it isn't, the Smart Cast and Air Play functions of this cover every other app not already installed. Overall, an AWESOME product at an affordable price. Thank you, Visio. - Donavon

More than I thought

Was looking at the 42 inch but saw the 50 on roll back for 20 more. Great picture, even my cat likes it. Comes with watch free and you get tons of stations and even music channels, combine with Netflix or Vudo it's all you really need. I play my games on it and great action pictures, no blurs.

Great Features

I bought this almost 1yr ago. I was home under lockdown order and the price was very reasonable. I was excited to have the big 58” screen. It works great with my internet connection. I have it directly wired to my router. It has all the popular apps pre loaded and many others that are free to watch. The speakers are ok but I decided to get the matching sound bar. Together they make a great pair. So happy that I got this model!!!

Sound is horrible

I bought this a month ago and actually sat down about a week ago to watch a movie. The picture is clear for the most part, but the sound quality is horrible. I have to turn it up to 51 just to hear what people are saying. I will be calling them about this, however, I'm waiting for the soundbar to come. Hopefully this will help, but I will still be calling about this.

Hello Ceejay53, as televisions continue to have larger screens with thinner profiles and sleeker bezels, there is less room for large speakers. To help get the best audio quality out of your VIZIO televisions speakers, we’ve included settings like DTS Studio Sound to provide the highest performance possible, while maintaining the thin, sleek, bezel-less profile of your television. If you’d like any help adjusting your audio settings feel free to contact VIZIO support at 844-254-8087.  For top of the line audio performance, you may also look into purchasing a VIZIO Sound Bar, there are several models available with wireless subwoofers for enhanced bass, rear speakers for true surround sound, and our new line of Atmos Sound Bars.
