The Roku Ultra is an excellent platform for 4k usage. Allows direct external connection for max reliability and the ecosystem has access to a lot of content. Controls are very very responsive compared to my aging 1st generation Roku. I haven't compared it to my Apple4k yet, but that was bought for a different reason, didn't want Apple ecosystem where this one is.

I have a Yamaha Surround Sound home theater amplifier with approx. 20 different genre choices. The Roku won't let me select anything but "standard" mode so, I am not using all the speakers available in my set=up. There has to be a way to solve this problem but I have not found it. There is not a manual and I have not found one on=line. Still, there are nice features and I will probably get another one for another TV.

Our previous Roku Ultra had started to have sound issues, so we decided to replace it. As it is our main television, we sprung for another Ultra. We frequently watch YouTube, either my partner, myself, or both together. The new "feature" that the Ultra 2024 offers that allows apps to start wherever it was when you hit the Home button to exit is beyond annoying. The solution offered by the Roku Community is to hit the Back button until you get the Exit dialog, then hit OK, which is no solution at all. What is the point of the Home button if not to efficiently exit an app to the Home screen. Additionally, the remote that came with the Ultra 2024 will not work for voice control, though when the Hands Free button is turned on, it picks up what it thinks are requests, so the microphone works. Then there is having to reboot every other time we try to open the Acorn app. Overall, very disappointing.

I bought the Ultra to use with an older (but still 4K) TV. The addition of HDR/Dolby Vision has made the picture on my old TV look great. A big improvement at a low cost. Easy to install and a way to keep current on video technology improvements without buying a new TV every few years.

I'm going to give it a 4/5, with the only reason it doesn't get full marks being the fact that the streaming apps on the device occasionally just won't play video, it will be black. The only way to fix it is to restart the device in the system settings. But other than that it works well and I'm not regretting my purchase. I would recommend it to a friend.

Now, I love Roku, but this one i would rather have never bought. Hdcp errors, won't stay turned off, can't turn off with remote,it just turns off the tv instead. Every time I try to use it, the tv says no signal and I have to remove the HDMI cable and put it back in. It's past warranty y at this point, so I can't return it. But don't buy it. Get the sound bar instead, this is poorly designed and does not work like it should.

Set up was easy. I like that it has all of the streaming services in one device. I love the voice control. Turning the tv on and off is handy but I really love turning off closed captioning with voice. Using the remote is a lot of clicks and it is in different places for every service. Voice control just does it

Would be even better if this highest end model had a second audio only HDMI port, just like my high end Blu-ray player. Thankful that this unit has an Ethernet port. Thankful that this unit can play content at native frame rate. Thankful that CEC can be disabled. Thankful that remote is backlit. Thankful that remote has physical switch to disable microphone.

I love this Roku ultra, it’s sleek and can be hidden. The voice remote and phone app integration is perfect. Had a couple instances of it freezing, restarted everything and it was fine. I think this was due to the YouTube app, which seems to be a YouTube programming problem because it does it everywhere I go. It automatically updates the hdr through my tv with no problem. Although if you have wireless speakers, aside from hooking them up via blue tooth as it’s called headphones in settings(????) why not have speaker integration that isn’t just a Roku wireless speaker is beyond me. That’s my one mark down, soundbar integration is not simple or easy. HDMIearc does work. But it’s still great, so responsive and so crisp. And I love the backgrounds you can choose and screen savers. Very cool.

Bought this model to try and solve our frequent buffering problem, before we upgraded our internet to a higher speed and therefore much higher cost. The Roku Ultra did the trick. We have found that we also like the Ultra much better than our previous Roku unit. Purchasing online was quick and easy. We would highly recommend this unit.
