These work better than I

These work better than I expected. Love that my ears aren’t blocked out of peripheral sounds around me. I hate buds stuck in my ears. But the music comes in strong. Light on my head. These are the new way when it comes to Bluetooth earphones. The best!

Great for listening to audiobooks when running and biking .

I use the OpenRun Pro to listen to audiobooks when running. Far better than my AirPods which love to fall from one ear or the other during a run. I find it quite helpful that I can quickly pause the books directly from the OpenRun headset when a running app interrupts to advise with speed and distance reports. I also find its ability to store two (iPhone and MacBook) bluetooth connections to allow quick change of source is quite effective. (Even better might be 3 connections, so an Apple watch could also participate when desired?) On long drives, I find a full charge can give me 9 to 10 hours of listening, and the unit charges quite quickly when depleted. The behind the neck connecting rod is generally comfortable unless lying in bed (where its stiffness can be problematic for proper placement.) I would love to see a few gigs of memory be installed for completely autonomous audiobook use? Overall I like these so much that I have bought a few as gifts for running and biking friends, feeling the safety factor somewhat justifies the the high price.

So far, really happy!

Purchased yesterday to replace a broken pair of night time headphones. Did not interfere with full cpap mask. Tried out on pickleball courts, had the music while still being able to hear my partner on the court. Looking forward to more play with them!

Still not small enough

I so wanted to be free from putting earbuds in my ear, so I had high hopes. But I'm petite enough that even the size small were too big, and uncomfortable with my hair worn down over them. Possibly the pair I had were malfunctioning, but I would hear an occasional "bzzip" sound. Lastly, while I think I have strong hearing, I would turn these all the way up and still struggle to hear over auto sounds. I hope a smaller pair will eventually be released and that a snugger fit will improve the sound quality, or that the band could be adjustable depending on hair styles? I wish the new earbuds were bone conducting, then the size of the band wouldn't matter.

Great for voices

First and foremost I love these headphones for almost everything. I use the primarily for work. Taking calls and teams meetings. They are perfect for that. I also love having my ears open in a long bike ride. I just wish the sound was a little better for music. I listen to a lot of audio books and they work perfect for that.

The BEST Headphones I have ever owned.

To start, I've been an AfterShokz fan boy for well over a year. I was put on to them by a good friend that had a pair of Aeropex. This is my second pair of Shokz. I had a pair of OpenComms that I accidentally stepped on and the button stopped working after that. I work in Telecommunications as a Tower Technician (Climber) so it is extremely important for me to have headphones that do not fall off. This brand does JUST THAT. The first quality requirement for me is not e cancelation, while my OpenComms did well, these Open Run do even better. In high winds (25-45mph) I can turn my head and the person on the other end can hear me perfectly fine. Sound quality is phenomenal, Bass is what you would expect from a pair of not over-the-ear headset, only slightly better. Battery light is SUPERB. I can talk, listen to music, audio books all day (12-16hr shifts) and I don't need a recharge. I let a hearing impaired friend try them out and they were able to hear audio clearly. The app that comes with Open Run is slightly lacking in features. I wish there was a way to customize button press on the headset, single, double, triple press variations. But that is simply an improvement recommendation versus a downfall from the headset. Overall, I absolutely, highly recommend them or any other Shokz headset.

Apple Watch Ultra Compatibility?

I've been using two different sets of Shokz headsets over the last 1.5 years. I had the Aftershokz first which were great for mountain biking/road biking. I streamed via Bluetooth from my Apple Watch 6 to my headset. I then upgraded to the Open Run Pro which also worked great; difference between the two was marginal but both were great for allowing you to have a good feel for your surroundings while listening to tunes. I then upgraded my Apple Watch to the new Ultra which came out in July(ish) of 22. Big mistake. It turns out that Apple is using a next gen of Bluetooth called 5.3. You would think that this would be backwards compatible but not so. My Ultra constantly cuts out the music to where it is unlistenable. The OpenRun Pro uses BT 5.1. While Shokz has responded to my inquiries, there is no timetable for if/when they might update firmware to be compatible. Since the only reason I bought the Shokz headsets was for cycling, they are paper weights for me at this point. Hoping to receive news of an update sometime soon but not holding my breath.

New to bone conduction

They are great for outdoor runs and activities. Very much enjoying them more now. I do wish I would have gotten the mini though. The regular size is a bit large around the back of my neck, but nothing that impacts the sound for functionality. Just a preference. The sound itself is good. The bass is nice but distorts off the volume is up high. There is sound bleeding as well. Others can hear my music if I’m in a quieter environment like walking around my house. I do wish the charging cable was longer. It’s way too short to reach where my changing block is on my floor. I like to charge it on my nightstand and I have to put it in the drawer because it’s lower to the ground. Only real negative I’ve come across at this point.

I wanted an upgrade not a down grade

I LOVE shokz OPEN RUN headphones and was excited to hear of the new open run pro. Sure there are slight minor improvements such as 10 hrs battery life and a 9th generation technology. However 8hrs vs 10 is not much of a difference and 8th gen vs 9 gen who can really tell the difference? The BIGGEST nail in the coffin is the MAJOR downgrade in water resistance. An IPP from 67 down to 55 is shameful especially at the price increase. Then there are the cosmetics of the product. If I'm buying an update I want COLOR CHOICES and in this the pro fails miserably. To begin with the OLD ridiculously larger models are EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE and yet they are the ones which offer more color choices instead of the cozy better shaped minis. So between the downgrades the minor improvements and the lack of choices in the Minis I have decided to go back to my Open run mini. There's no reason to upgrade to a downgrade. Hopefully shokz will come out with a newer model with more mini choices which is an actual upgrade especially in regards to something as important as water resistance!

Love

I love my Shokz! So easy to use and set up and light and comfortable! I love that I don't have to have something in my ears or worry whether they'll fit or fall out...just wrap around and go! A game changer whether working out or sitting listening to music! Love!
