Perfect for our needs
After figuring out how to lower the temperature to 37 degrees, it is perfect for what we need. Thanks to Danielle at Tramotina, here is the secret. It will cool to 40 degrees and hold no problem. Once it is 40 degrees for 30 minutes, then lower it in 5 degree increments to your desired temperature, leaving it at each temp 30 minutes until you are where you want to be. We do get a bit of condensation on the front, but our shop is very humid and only running a window a/c unit. We do have to defrost it every week, and it never fully gets rid of all the ice, but for what we needed it serves the purpose. For the price I can't complain.
Quiet, Super cold, Love it!
This unit is so quiet it barely makes any noise at all. The first time I let it get cold and then filled it with drinks. Give it about two days to get good and cold. It is slow but it will keep drinks super cold, I have it set at 34 degrees and it will maintain 29 degrees on the second shelf from the bottom. There is a ledge on the middle of the back wall and water sitting there will get ice in it on my setting. Putting in more than about ten hot drinks at a time will raise the temperature inside so I load it at night and by the next morning it is cold again. Running more than about thirty drinks a day through this little fridge may not get cold enough, fast enough.
Great fridge, EXCELLENT customer service!!!
We bought this refrigerator a little over a year ago when we moved into our house. It has been used to keep drinks cold in our basement. It suddenly quit cooling one day and was making this weird clicking sound like it was trying to turn on the compressor but just wouldn't. I was hesitant, but after reading the other reviews I decided to call customer service. Holy cow. When I say they were amazing, I mean it. Good customer service is so hard to find these days with large companies, so I am always eager to tell others when I receive it. A REAL person answered the phone. No automated robot that couldn't understand how to direct my call. The first real person transferred me to the department that could assist me. Within less than 5 minutes the representative had troubleshot my problem, taken my information, and put in an order to ship a replacement part and instructions same day. Did I mention that the fridge is out of the manufacturers warranty? They didn't care...helped me anyway. I will update this review when said replacement part arrives and we have replaced it.
Does not cool to 32 degrees as stated
This unit is sleek and looks awesome in my home bar. However the reason for purchasing this unit was the fact that the unit alleges to cool to 32 degrees. I am storing only beer in this unit and optimimal temps are 34-35 for beer, thus the reason I purchased this brand. This is not true, the top half of this unit barely stays at 44 degrees, and that is not having it opened for days. I have seen after the purchase, reviews that say the same thing. I had called shortly after purchase to complain and was told that the bottom would definetly get to 32 but the top may not, and I was told to get a thermometer and put on the top shelf to see for sure that the temp was not reaching their claims. The fix that some reviews suggested they sent out and allowed these units to get to the 32 degree temp, I was told the fix was already in my unit as it was the newer unit. I am waiting for a technician to call, not sure why its apparent their units are not reaching the temps that they allege that they do.
don't waste your money
Read the reviews, they mostly all state the smell is horrible and it is. I've tried cleaning it, and have put baking soda in it and scrubbed it with baking soda paste. It makes the contents also smell bad, especially plastic bottles. It's a formaldehyde odor and doesn't go away, we've had this for almost two months and have not been able to use it, hopefully returning it this week.
Perfect :)
I searched everywhere for a fridge with good ratings to put in my basement. I went with this because all other fridges people complained about the temperature. Mine shows 32 degrees so I did not have to call to upgrade the unit. I can confirm with it full of drinks they get very cold so 32 degrees is working. It does make some vibrating/rattling noise. Fix? Put something heavy on the fridge. Slight humming noise, but it is a fridge. Those that are complaining about the noise must drive really slow on the highway so they don't get any wind noise. It's not bad at all.. Blue light is cool. You can turn it off. Buy it you won't regret it. I've had it for 3 days.
Thermostat Inaccurate/ Slow & Inconsistent Cooling
I bought this last week and followed the setup instructions to a "T". I set it up so that there were three shelves by removing two of the provided shelves. I put water bottles on the top, cans in the middle, and some 12 oz bottles of beer on the bottom. I set the temperature from 50 to 34. I used an instant read probe thermometer which I calibrated. After a half hour or so I was shocked at how fast the digital display inside said it cooled to 34. NOT!!! Inside it was 48 on the top shelf. It didn't get to 34 and the compressor shut off. I left it go another four hours and and took the readings that it has currently (now 8 hours later). Top shelf 41 degrees, middle 36 degrees, and bottom 33. So if you only plan to use the bottom and middle shelf you're all set. The top shelf doesn't appear to be going any lower and the bottom of the cooler now reads 36. I'll check it in the morning, but it seems pretty clear that it's very slow at cooling, inaccurate and doesn't have enough fan forced circulation to cool all shelves equally. I don't know why they didn't do a better job of engineering the cooling of this beverage cooling refrigerator. It's a household model, but it's cooling is weak nonetheless. Adequate (robust) fan forced cooling is all this thing needs and this beverage cooler would be near perfect. It's going back.
Nice.... but cooling could be better
I bought this item a few weeks ago. It was well packaged and light enough for one person to pick-up. The glass door makes knowing what's in the refrigerator very convenient. You can easily see the temperature setting (Not a thermometer) and there's even a small light. The unit can be a little noisy at times, but not to the extent that it becomes an annoyance. The biggest issue with the unit overall is the variable temperature. I have my unit set to 33 degrees F. I purchased a refrigerator thermometer and put it inside to track the temperature. The bottom shelf registers 33 degrees. The middle shelf registers 39 degrees. and the top shelf registers at 45 degrees. A 12 degree difference from top to bottom in such as small unit is quite annoying. What I did to combat this wide temperature range was to store my cans/bottles depending on contents. Wine at the top, because it needs to be served chilled, Soda in the middle, and beer at the bottom. Its worked out thus far.
Good for about two years
Less than two years after purchase, the outer pane of the glass door randomly shattered, it's still in the door. There was no impact, there is no visible damage, no pings, nicks, or scratches to the glass. The door was not being touched at the time, it just let off a loud pop. The cooler sits on a large cabinet, off the floor, out of the main walking area, in an air conditioned temperature controlled home. It's unfortunate, other than the short life, I liked this cooler.
Loved it so much, bought it twice!
Purchased this fridge on sale two years ago for my bonus room and purchased it again (on sale) most recently for my basement. Keeps beverages and other items nice and cold and it also provides a nice, sleek, contemporary look to the room(s). I?ve seen comparable beverage refrigerators at almost twice the non-sale price so getting this fridge on sale was a great deal. I haven?t experienced a lot of the ?noise? that some reviewers mention, just a slight hum from time to time. To avoid any overly loud motorized noises, I suggest ensuring that the fridge is leveled with the floor and that you leave enough space between the back of the fridge and the wall as the instructions state.
