Great kettle, little expensive for what it is

Looks great. Easy control options. Heats water quickly. Love the ability to maintain the water temperature. The 5 degree changes in the water is good for quickly changing the desired temperature for the different types of beverage, but would be nice to be able to toggle to be able to change it to 1 degree increments. The other similar kettles are lower in price with the same functionalities.

Fast, well made, and good looking

This gooseneck kettle is fast boiling, well made, and good looking. I use it every day and it boils water noticeably faster than my previous kettle. This comes with a single downside: the water makes many loud sounds that are like small explosions. While this is not a problem it is something to be aware of if you are intending to use this in a noise sensitive place. The high wattage and fast boiling means that some of the larger pockets of steam collapse to create these very loud popping sounds (not like a rolling boil, discrete and explosive). The construction and packaging are high quality. The base is sturdy and doesn’t slide around with normal use. The handle is comfortable and there is a small vent in the lid to direct the steam away from your hands when you align the arrows on the lid (a very nice little feature). The construction feels sturdy while being fairly lightweight. The buttons are responsive and I haven’t accidentally pressed one yet. You do have to hold the power button down to turn it on while just a tap will turn it off, again, a nice little detail. The aesthetics of the kettle are nice. It is understated, in a nice matte black finish. The base is functional while not being ugly. It blends into a modern set of kitchen tools without causing visitors to wonder what it is (unlike some coffee grinders). In general, it leans masculine, modern, industrial, and minimal in the visual design but it isn’t an eye sore. I really enjoy this kettle and I won’t have any issues using it until either I break it or it gives out. There are two things I would offer as a way to take this from a 4 to a 5 for the next generation of the GK1 (maybe GK2?). The first is a more apparent max fill line. I am regularly using my kettle in the dark mornings and it can be hard to see the max fill line on the inside of the kettle. It there was a small bit of material that I could use as a gauge it would help in low light uses. The second is the ability to convert the temperature reading to Celsius. I know this is not a feature that most Americans would ask for but I was very surprised to find out I could only use Fahrenheit (maybe this has to do with the 5 degree granularity but I am unsure). I would recommend this kettle to most people for pour over coffee and other electric kettle needs.

Visible temperature control is a big help

I love the display with the current and tareget temperatures. The temperature is easy to set. The large mouth makes it easy to add water. Pours very well. The on switch takes a few seconds to function. Sometimes it gets in a situation where you think you have poured your tea and turned the device off, but it doesn't know it and it shows a funny error because the kettle is empty but it wants to heat. Power cyclinng does not help. you have to add water, water for the error to clear then pour the warer out. I quickly learned how to avoid this - make sure the "thermomete" icon beside the power is turned off and then power down.

An Upgrade from our old Kettle!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This kettle works really well and stands out, for us, for two reasons: the goose neck spout allows for a precision pour and the temperature control base. The latter heats the water to the temperature you desire and keeps it at that temperature by continuously reheating it. It also alerts you when the water initially reaches the set temperature. The temperature-setting controls are very simple and easy to use, and they work great for my wife and I: I drink coffee so desire my water to be hotter than what she wants for her tea, so whomever is making their breakfast beverage first just heats the water to the temperature they want and then resets the temperature to what the other prefers. We’re very happy with this kettle.

Solid Kettle

Solid Kettle. It holds temps for 30 min which is nice for a second round of brewing. Awesome to have 175 degree water for green tea. It does beep a lot - it’s a bit jarring (but my wife says I’m overly sensitive to beeping noises so take that as you will). Needs a bit of countertop space for the cord, but is a nice looking kettle.

Almost perfect

I would have preferred that the markings for Maximum and Minimum were on the side opposite the handle. It's a bit awkward filling it the way it is. The ability to adjust the temperature by single degrees, rather than in 5 degree increments, would be nice.

The Best Way to do pour-over coffee.

If you like pour-over coffee, you need one of these. I was just going to get a regular electric kettle but I saw this Gooseneck Kettle and figured why not get the best of both worlds. Very easy and precise to put the water just where it is needed. If you like pour-over coffee, you know that it is important to "Bloom" the coffee before adding a quantity of coffee. Works like a champ. Really easy to set the temperature for coffee. I use 205 degrees. Let's you know the actual water temperature and the target temperature. Works well with tea, also.

Upscale gooseneck kettle thats actually affordable

Absolutely love this kettle. Water boils quickly, has all the necessary features, and looks sleek. I like that I can pour accurately and comfortably thanks to the chunky handle. One downside is that the beeps are too loud and can be annoying, but not a dealbreaker at such a reasonable price.

Could have done it before.

This is the first electric kettle I’ve owned. For making tea it makes the process much more handy. You grab the kettle, add the water, tourniquet it on, set the temperature, wait a few minutes, and you water is ready to add to your tea. No finding a pot, haul it over to the sink, add the water, take it to the stove, turn on a burner, and then wait. Using the kettle is like using a scalpel instead of a broad axe. It gives you controllable stream of water, so water doesn’t go flying everywhere. I’m happy I bought the kettle, I only wish I would have done it before.

Disappointing

It is hard to see the lid’s black-on-black small arrows to line them up We had to add our own w White Out. It took longer to bring to 200 than our last kettle (not a Cuisinart). There is no 202 option which is what we prefer for coffee - only 2005 or 200. If the kettle is at the full mark, it leaks out the front when pouring.
