All you do is slide the sticky insert into the holder and plug it in. The blue light attracts the insects to it. There is zero noise since it's just a sticky trap. It is something easy and reliable to keep bugs out of the home. I don't usually like sticky traps because the tiny lizards around my home could come in and get stuck or other small animals, but since this plugs in, it's better.
