This used to be my go to whiskey for more than a decade and I would buy 4-5 bottles a year but ever since they changed to the new bottle the taste profile has changed. At first I thought my taste buds were off and after drinking several of the new bottles I noticed that everything from the nose, palate and finish were not anywhere near the taste I was used too. It was like drinking a totally different whisky and I found myself not enjoying it and reaching for it less. I guess the good thing was that it took me out of my comfort zone and forced me to try other scotches and even bourbons to find a replacement. I do have a new go to whiskey but it costs 2x as much for the redbreast 12. I really miss the original 12 Glenlivet and I can still remember the excitement on the weekend of that freshly poured glass and the smell of that wonderful bouquet hitting my nose and the first sip as it washed over my tongue with the floral notes and sweetness that was so unique. I thought the whole time it was just me but after 3 other people shared the same unsolicited opinion I knew that something had changed.

I have been drinking 12 year old for 6 years now. I sip with 2 ice cubes.

Classic Speyside single malt.
