Customer reviews for Stearns & Foster Lux Hybrid Mattress, Available in Soft, Medium, and Firm forAmazing quality and comfort!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This bed is fantastic! We ordered a "bed in a box" type mattress years ago for convenience and price. While they seem comfortable initially, they quickly decline in quality. The Stearns and Foster Reserve is the first traditional mattress we have had in years. When presented with the opportunity to review one of Stearns and Fosters mattresses from Bzzagent, I still wanted to do my research. I landed on the Reserve collection soft pillowtop. The pillowtop provides an extra layer of cushioning that is very comfortable. I tend to get very warm while sleeping, so the cooling fibers were very important to me. While lots of products claim to be "cooling", this mattress has delivered on that claim. The pillowtop cover is made of Tencel, which is a high-end fabric known for its exceptional temperature regulation. It has a silky moisture wicking fabric feel to it. Our summer heat is brutal, so this was the perfect time to test the cooling capabilities. Another feature I love is the dual support. The mattress has a comfort layer with TEMPUR-Indulge memory foam, but also a support layer with Intellicoil HD. One issue we have had with the foam mattresses in a box is they tend to lose their shape and sag over time. They don't provide support long term. My husband is a side sleeper, and I am a stomach sleeper, we both find this mattress very comfortable and supportive. It provides a good night's sleep to every type of sleeper. If there is any question on quality and standing the test of time, just try lifting and moving the mattress. It is extremely heavy! That may be the only negative about it. When trying to change the sheets it is slightly more difficult to lift and get the sheets on. I will take that minor inconvenience any day to have the quality rest we have been getting on this mattress. Goodbye bed in a box!
Love at first ....
Purchased the Reserve Soft and my husband and I both loved the mattress initially. Soon after the 90 day return or exchange window expired we realized the Soft Pillowtop model was not the right fit for us. The top had started to compress and sag where we sleep and a hump between us started to form. My husband also began complaining the mattress was causing back discomfort each morning. When I reached out to Customer Service to explain our experience and that we would like to exchange our soft pillow top for the Medium non pillow top model I was told by the representative nothing could be done since the 90 day window for an exchange had passed and I could file a claim if the mattress sag was already greater than 1.5 inches. Considering S&F is a premium brand and we purchased their top end collection I had hoped for a different outcome when I called customer service and explained our experience.
3 days in and love it!
I love this mattress, and so does my back! I had back surgery and it's so hard to find a soft AND supportive mattress. I usually get either soft and not supportive, or too hard of a mattress that doesn't conform to my body. This mattress is the perfect mix between soft and supportive. The memory foam is immersive enough to cradle my body, but the coils catch my body so I don't sink and throw my body out of alignment. It's worth it!
I finally sleep through the night
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Stearns & Foster kindly gave me this Lux Hybrid Mattress for free so that I could review it. I did not know a mattress could make such a difference in a good night's sleep! When I wake up after sleeping on my Lux Hybrid I feel refreshed, energized, and rested. Before this mattress, I woke up tired and feeling sore. My neck and my shoulders would hurt from tossing and turning all night. I now wake up without discomfort. The best feature for me is the All-Night Cooling. The IntelliFlex™ Hybrid system creates hundreds of channels for airflow, that pull warm air away from your body while you sleep. No more waking through the night from being hot, which to me is everything. The quality of the mattress is impressive, and the level of comfort is amazing! I can't explain it, but when I lie down it feels as though it hugs the exact form of my body, which I love! I get the level of support I need from this mattress.
Hybrid luxury edition
The worst mattress I've ever owned after 8 months of trying to get used to it we had to put in guest room we are using our old mattress again just after 4 hours of sleeping on it causes lower back pain for both of us my wife weighs 115 lb and I weigh 250 makes no difference it sinks in when we sleep on it . I went through all the hoops for warranty and lots of pictures broom stick test and receipt for customer support said our box spring was not compatible and there was no defect in their product. The sleep galleria we purchased at is out of business . No replacement or warranty I advise anyone not to buy before knowing about the full warranty.

The perfect mix of foam layers and targeted support zones has made my sleep far more comfortable, and I've never felt more well-rested! I was impressed with the cooling technology used in the RES. It has made a noticeable difference in my sleep experience. No more nights of tossing and turning due to feeling overheated. The breathable materials keep me at just the right temperature the whole night through. I'm thrilled with my decision to go with the Stearns & Foster Reserve Medium Tight Top - Queen (RES1). Buyer beware
My husband and I purchased the most expensive mattress of our lives because we believe that it is worth it. We had owned Stearns and Foster in the past, and have been happy with them. Let me disclose that we are both in our upper 70's. The first problem we experienced was that the mattress is super heavy. It took both of us to make the bed. Secondly, the pillow top shifted almost immediately. Within 3 months, we were both sleeping in a hole. When the bed was made up, two body holes and a mound in the middle showed through the bedspread. The company from whom we purchased mattress, sent a representative out to measure and advise us what to do. The "fix" for the shift in the pillow top, was to walk on the bed to shift the top. Keep in mind, we are in our seventies. That wasn't a great solution for us. So we continue to sleep in our holes and if we move to the middle, we are literally sleeping on an angle. We honestly believe that the foundation under the pillow top is solid and of good value. If you are young and not afraid of breaking a hip, and still have a good back to lift 200 pounds to make up the bed, go for it. If you are older, be advised, it might not be the best bed for you!
Comfy and Cozy Sleep
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I don't feel I have had enough time sleeping on the mattress to give all my thoughts, I believe we have a pretty solid basis so far to give our thoughts. The high mattress made me giggle, but we love it. The material looks very well made, which we love. As for the actual sleep of the mattress, it's very comfortable. The first few nights of sleep, I woke up with zero pain, which was terrific. Now the top is slightly softer than I assumed when hearing firm. The sides dip down a bit more than I would like as well. And we think it may sleep a bit warmer than our old mattress. We love the mattress, though, and are thrilled to see how we keep liking it over the next few months. I plan to do a blog post within the next few months to express our thoughts! Along with social shares then.
I can see this being good, but not what we thought.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a participant with BzzAgent sampling program we were chosen to test the medium lux hybrid for free in exchange for an honest review. I debated about giving this a 3 or a 4, so here are my thoughts. Keep in mind, we have only had this for a little over a week so far. Before choosing the mattress we would be willing to test I looked at the website for the firmness scale and the scale on the website said the firmness would be around 6-7 out of 10 for the medium. We have not found this to be accurate at this point. When we sit on the edge of the bed it sinks WAY down. Then when we lay in it, we sink way in. Its weird because if kinda feels a bit firm, but then we wake up in a hole. Definitely doesn't feel as firm as we expected and it is unfortunately a situation where we are waking up with sore backs. (I will add that we are not small people, but also not excessively overweight. I think it is a factor though). As for the cooling feature...we don't really see it. I don't know if that is because we have a mattress cover on it, or its just not working well for us. We will be trying it without the mattress cover soon. Not giving up yet. I can see this mattress being great for people who prefer a softer bed. I struggle to accurately say what I think because it does seem to have the support and stability I want in a mattress, but I also am waking up with a sore back and in a hole. I know, clear as mud. Overall, I think it s a good solid choice as long as its clear that it is softer than expected. One major thing that was bothersome to us was the off gassing. The "chemical" smell on this mattress for the first few days was so strong I actually ended up sleeping on the couch one night. I am sensitive to toxic fumes and it was causing me some trouble. That does seem to have dissipated after 4 days or so. So, after just one week, I wouldn't count this mattress out, but I don't think it will end up being right for us.
Quality and comfort went down with newer model
I had a 2021 Model Sterns And Foster Reserve Cal King bed and it was the best bed I have ever experienced. When my movers damaged my mattress, I went right out and bought another one of the same model. When the bed arrived I noticed several things had changed. Even though it had the same name and softness, the mattress was completely different. First off, the quality of the covering material is much lower. Seems to be made of some sort of polyester or nylon. The new covering material allows your sheets slide around on the bed when you move or roll over in bed. The new material also seems to hold body heat. I have never had a problem with sleeping hot, but this new mattress makes me and my spouse very warm at night. Lastly, the new bed has tufting that has very firm knots in the center of the tufts. Making for a lumpy bed with hard spots all over it. I found myself not able to find a comfortable position, and always being disturbed by high and low spots as well as hard knots all over the bed. Its a shame because the 2021 model I replaced had none of these issues. After trying to get used to the mattress for 30 days I ended up returning it. Sadly, it seems all the Reserve collection mattresses have this cover and tufting. I would recommend trying out the mattress in a store before purchase. I am still giving 2 stars because other than the issues with the cover, the bed is a nice product.
