My dogs love it!

I have 3 very picky eaters! Mastiff, Italian greyhound and chihuahua... they are on Canidae and I have been looking for a grain free but they are never interested. Sams gave me a sample, and all the dogs were fighting over it! I guess I'll be switching!! :)

Recipe Change

Our dogs have eaten this food for years and have maintained a healthy weight. Recently, the packaging changed, and I believe the recipe is not the same. Both of our dogs have lost weight since changing to this food. It seems like this food is mostly filler. Often, there are other kibbles mixed in.

Do not buy, made my dog so sick!

I bought this dog food and it sounded amazing with awesome ingredients. When I opened the bag i saw little pieces of plastic in it, and I thought oh mainly on the top it will be easy to pick out, well here I am a week and half later picking out this bits of plastic which looks like the packaging? My dog has been throwing up so much maybe it's just not good for her but I've only fed her high protein dog food since she's been 6 weeks. I don't recommend.

Beware: Use with caution

Was given a free sample at our local Sam's. Our 55# 7 year old Borador loved it like it was a treat! Reviews were good, the comparisons were excellent, she loved it, so we decided to introduce it into her routine. She would pick it out of her regular food to eat first! THEN, after one week of complete switch over, we started noticing a marked difference in her behaviors. She was not as playful, became 'clingy', lost interest in socializing with other dogs, and just seemed tired. Thinking it may be her age catching up with her we upped the times we walked her but cut the length, and kept a watchful eye on her. The second week she continued to decline in her activities, seemed depressed, not her happy, pleasant self at all anymore with the constant wagging tail greetings, became increasingly clingy, laying at our feet constantly and never wanting us out of her sight. Her stools never changed and she never vomited, but her coat did became rougher, not so sleek looking, (odd with a high protein?) the only physical change we noticed until we went to put her life vest on to go with us on the boat and was met with yelping and major distress. We checked her over and over and over! Nothing external at all but noticed her belly was tender to the touch. Time for the vet but being a Friday evening, no eminent danger felt (bloating, swelling), we had the entire weekend to wonder. Thinking back to what could have happened/changed in the last two weeks the only answer was the food. Removed the food and replaced back with her old tried and true. She didn't eat at all Saturday but did start back up on Sunday. By Wednesday she was back to her happy, playful self with zero issues since. No PROOF it was the food but will never take a chance again! Just an FYI on how we feel OUR girl reacted.

Out of Stock for Months!

Our dog loves this brand and has been on it for years but, for the last year we have had so much trouble getting it. It's always out of stock and we moved to MA from CA so we need to order and have it shipped as the nearest store is hours away in a different state! Is there sone way you can notify customers when the item is in stock again so it can be reordered? Many stores do this. We love Sams and have been preferred plus members for years but, this latest issue makes us want to rethink our membership. Please help! A very loyal Sam's Club member

The smell

I have bought this dog food for years but all of a sudden it smells horrible. Like rotten! I'm torn though because changing a dog's diet can be difficult. However the smell even gets stuck on their breath for hours. Please someone else tell me you have noticed this.

Nice Protein boost

I have been using this mixed with another warehouse Grain-Free [G-F] Turkey & Sweet potato [1:1] for about two months. We have seen no ill affects from our 3 dogs [2 Irish and 1 English setter]. I selected the Sams G-F because of the high protein level, most G-F foods are lower in protein unless you want to spend >$75 a bag. Our girls like the mix and do well with the blend. there energy levels are the same I have noticed the stools in the yard are a bit smaller, firmer and fewer, wife does the pickup. A higher protein diet in humans will give the similar results, so I believe I'm seeing this with our dogs. We monitor our girls closely and so far after 4 bags of the Sams GF all is well.

Small but healthy food

Was smaller pieces and mixed well with the wet food.
