I bought this unit to replace a larger generator two years ago. It went through on hurricane like a champ. One half of my home was easily powered (which was more than enough, 1 AC 3 yard pumps, misc. 20 A breakers). The unit stores easily when not in use and is easy to move to hook up the transfer switch. I recently had a bad battery and the folks at Generac are replacing it. What a pleasant surprise and a guarantee that I will buy another Generac when the time comes.

After returning the original purchase due to a defect, the replacement generator went together quickly and easily. I was concerned about previous reviews that talked about difficulty putting oil in and putting the wheels on, but I had no problems. You do need a funnel to add oil, but a funnel with a long neck worked fine. After the unit was assembled, I put some fuel in it and it fired right up. I also put a small load on it to ensure it was actually working. All in all, I'm happy and confident this unit will perform as expected when it is needed.

This generator weighs over 200# but with the wheels on, it is easy to move around. Assembly was easy and I had it running in no time. Took my time, made sure all connections were secure and it fired right up. Pluged in a light and it worked just fine. Haven't had to use for emergency power yet, but now I am ready.

bought this unit, and had a major issue with it before it even had any hours on. I contacted customer support and had the issue resolved with one phone call. They sent out the parts right away, without any problems. now the unit runs perfectly. very happy with this purchase.

Purchased this unit for Hurricane season and used it for the last major hurricane to pass through which caused power to fail and be out for 6 days. The unit ran with no issues and had better fuel economy than predicted. Only drawback was that it could be a bit quieter. Also, the unit could use some type of mechanism to hold the 110v plugs in place while the unit is running as they tend to vibrate out causing whatever you have plugged in to lose power like a refrigerator! Not sue what that would look like but would be a convenient feature.

I purchased this generator after a three day power outage in 2011. It just finished its first tour of duty on a seven day outage here in Charleston, WV. It ran my entire house..including central A/C and even provided 120V service to my neighbor. It uses a little over a gallon of gas per hour but it's a small price to pay to keep our lives comfortable in 100 degree heat with no utility power. This is the portable unit to own.

Bought the unit for residential back up. Was shipped with all parts included. Thankfully. Set up was with out problem. Have utilized the generator only once for a three hour period. It carried the load without any struggle at all. Pleased so far with the unit.

Living in the outskirts of Gainesville, FL. we lose power on a constant basis, and becomes a constant nuisance to my family and myself. So the following year I determined to take my tax return and buy a new generator. I researched multiple generators in finally set my mind on the Generac 17500. Since receiving my generator in February I've used it seven times running it 4 to 5 hours with no problems, then Irma hit. I ran this generator for over seven days nonstop and it was a lifesaver. I cannot thank Generac and the people who built this generator for the power, comfort and support it has given my family. This is a well-built generator and I highly recommend it to anyone. I used my generator once up to this point. It powered my house for a day. It’s a duel fuel generator, I wanted to use the propane option, read and reread the manual numerous times, but could not get it to work. I used gas. In order to get it looked at I’d have to lift the generator into my suv, which is impossible. I feel it’s ridiculous that I can’t get someone to my house to look at it, get it working properly.

I already had to use my generator, because the local substation near us was shut down for about eight hours. had it up and running in about 15 minutes and ran 80-90% of the house without interuptions. Very pleased with this generator! I would highly recommend this generator!
