Electric Start and hour meter

I bought this unit for a backup power source. Do to my electric company not being the most reliable to repair outages. The unit was delivered and I set it up within a 1/2 hour. Fired right up. I like the fact it has an hour meter to let me know when maintenance is needed. Electric start is nice also has a pull starter if needed.

Great Generator

I highly recommend this generator to everyone. My GP7500E was easy to set up and get started right away. It will be nice when the power goes out here in south Arkansas again and I can just start up my generator and not miss a beat. This generator will do all we need to do. Thanks Generac.

Already had to use twice

I wanted to add a generator after how cold this winter has and fearing not having heat for my two small children. However, I have had to use it already twice this summer, and it has started up each time. I have even had some neighbors come over during the storms so they could make their kids comfortable as well.

Generac GP6500 saved our groceries!

September 11, 2017, Hurricane Irma headed to Georgia! We lost power at 7:30 a.m. that Monday morning and power was not restored until 11:30 a.m., Thursday (Sept. 14th). Seventy-six hours without power, but the Generac got us through it comfortably. I've never had/used a generator before, but it is easy to start and fairly simple to use.

What a beast!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The GP6500 Pull Start, COS W/Cord 49 St is a beast, simply stated. This thing is powerful and it shows in its size. It hooks up so easily and really is ready to use as soon as you get out of the monsterous box! It is easy to read instructions too. You can power multiple things around your house easily and for hours. I live in a hurricane path near the Gulf and this will come in handy for years to come. It does weigh 200+ lbs so have someone with muscles to help you out. Once its out of the box its very easy to get around using its wheels. I am in love with this machine!

Great machine - runs everything

I bought this generator to replace a much smaller unit so that I could run the electric range, HVAC, refrigerators/freezer, and water pumps in my home. I installed a 50-amp transfer panel and tested the setup with all the circuits pulling power, and the generator never missed a beat. Future plans are to install a 30-amp transfer panel to power the electric water heater, lights, and outlets. Others have remarked that the unit is too heavy to put the wheel kit on without help. I had no such problem - a hydraulic floor jack would probably help a lot.

Very satisfied

I cannot argue against Generac generators. For reliability, dependability and overall satisfaction I recommend getting yourself a Generic. Yes, Generacs' do cost a little more but you get what you pay for. However they are not the most expensive generator company. So, don't skimp on safety and comfort due to price. Go the extra mile and buy yourself a piece of mind. I bought myself a portable generator GP1500E to be sure I have what I need.

First Impession not good, Sence then perfect

Bought this generator as a home back up. First use was a long term power outage in cold weather. After 17 hours it pushed the little gasket/bushing out of a fitting where the two wires go through the crank case for the low oil sensor, It puked all the oil out of it on my driveway until the low oil sensor shut it off. Not good at 2am in 5 degree weather. In the dark I thought it blew up with all the oil. Diagnosed it the next day, pushed the bushing back in place with silicone sealant. Sense then it's been perfect. I like the generator now but at 2am the first use I was frustrated. I would still recommend this generator as I think this was a fluke and it's been perfect since

Sandy and Generac - a good combination

Just made it through hurricane Sandy's blackout. This was the generators first extended test. Passed with flying colors. This is the 6500 Watt model, manual start. Started on the second pull (usually does). I Powered, using the 30amp outlet - 1 Refrig, 2 gas forced hot air heating units, 1 gas powered water heater, 2 bathrooms, kitchen lights, dinette lights family room outlets (charged a lot of cell phones), and used applicances through those outlets (toaster over, coffee maker, washer/dryer), and of course a radio, hall lights and a bedroom. Using the 20amp four outlets, powered three more refrig, including a couple from my neighbors house, and some additional lights. The generator took forever to use the gasoline in the tank. No lights flickered, appliances functioned proprely. At times I forgot I was on generator. Thank You Generac.

Saved everything in two freezers.

We use to experience power outages in our area as much as 9 times a year. That was when it was our cottage and before the utility company did a great job of clearing trees from around the lines. Now we sold our house and live here full time. About 1 or 2 outages a year. We just bought $200.00 of food for the frig and freezer and had an outage. Bought my new Gererac generator the next morning and saved everything. During the outage I installed the transfer switch and could not be happier being able to use everything important for comfortable living during an outage (even the Hot Tub). Very easy to use, very easy to set-up.
