Made lots of grass

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am really happy with these grass seeds. I applied generously to areas that were having a difficulty producing anything and in a couple weeks I has lots of grass. The grass looks really green and healthy.

I Do Not Recommend

I purchased both a three pound bag and a 7 pound bag. After I saw no results a week after I purchased the 3 lb bag, I purchased a 7 pound bag. No germination after 5 weeks. The blue seeds are still lying on the areas I prepared to reseed. I followed directions on the bag and at this site. I watered every day that it did not rain. I've done this before over the years, but this is the first grass seed I've used that failed to produce. Absolutely no results.

We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced when using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. This particular product usually has a lot of success stories from users, but it is helpful when we get reviews like yours to help us produce quality seed. Here are a few tips to consider when growing in the future. For Cool Season grasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and different types of Fescues soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate and can take between 4 -21 days to see germination. Warm season grasses like Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia, which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius) and can take between 5-28 days to see visible germination. Watering also plays a defining factor in germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times a day until germination is visible and then watering 1- 1 ½” per week as needed. Both excessive watering and not enough watering can slow down or even stop germination of the product. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at http://tinyurl.com/mds8zo5 and one of our representatives would be glad to assist you. We hope this issue has not caused you to lose faith in Scotts Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix, as we use reviews like yours to maintain and improve the quality product that you and other consumers have come to know and love.

Very poor results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The blue "water saving" coating gives you less than half the coverage than the plain grass seed and I found that it does not germinate any better than plain seed, even after watering daily. I would much prefer the plain non-coated grass seed to this coated seed.

Grows fast and thick

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had trouble with Grubs this past year, as soon as the bug problem was dealt with, we needed to fill in the huge bare areas with grass. We were afraid it would be weeks till me saw growth, but with in 8-10 days a thick green covering started to grow. It blended in well with the rest of the lawn... No problems since

product did not work as expected

I have always used scotts lawn care products and have always been pleased with the results. After moving into a new house the back yard needed some help. I went out and spread 10 yards of good topsoil and bought 2 40lbs bags of this grass seed and scotts starter fertilizer. After 6 weeks the results are nothing that I expected at all. There seems to be very little growth and it seems like the seed just didn't germinate at all. I followed the directions exactly and ,besides a couple cool nights which were in the 40s, the weather conditions were perfect for growing grass. This is not the first lawn I have put in but it is the first time trying this product and it will be the last.

Easy to use and very effective on my lawn

Took a chance with this product and it absolutely has paid off. My lawn is now very plush in areas that had been difficult to grow anything except weeds. A combination of this product along with the Scott's crabgrass and dandelion eliminator has made our lawn explode. Definitely worth using this on your lawn.

We have two large breed dogs that every year do a number ( that is both # one and # two) to our lawn.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Every spring we have patches of dead lawn to repair. I have tried other cheaper brands but have had the most success with Scotts brand Gtass seed. The space consists of both full sun and heavy shade and the blades pop up in both spaces.

Lawn Repaired

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Due to a serious ant infestation in my yard, I was wondering if my lawn would ever look nice again. I am happy to report that this grass seed always works. After spreading and thoroughly watering, I have hope that the bare areas in my backyard will be green and healthy looking again! Very easy to use, even in full sun spots.

Need More Time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Decent Product. Not enough time for things to grow fully. Used it around my backyard pad construction. I am seeing entirely too many weeds and I can not verify where they are coming from. Unsure If I will use in the future

Don't try anything else.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Still the best seed you can get. As the package says, it works in any condition (of course you have to have decent soil to work) that you can put it in. Follow the directions and you'll have it starting in just a couple of days.
