No grass for me.

My yard had been neglected last spring because I was deployed overseas. This year, I decided that I would stick exclusively with Scotts brand products. I am very happy with the Halts and Weed/Feed products that I have applied to the remainder of my yard, but I am not at all happy with the grass seed I purchased to help fill in an area near my patio. I don't think one seed germinated. I raked the area to make sure the seed would be in contact with the soil. I applied starter fertilizer and kept the Halts crabgrass preventer clear of the area I was planting new seed, but no luck.

We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced when using the product. This particular product usually has a lot of success stories from users, but it is helpful when we get reviews like yours to help us produce quality product. For Cool Season grasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and different types of Fescues soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate and can take between 4 -21 days to see germination. Warm season grasses like Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia, which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius) and can take between 5-28 days to see visible germination. Watering also plays a defining factor in germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times a day until germination is visible and then watering 1- 1 ½” per week as needed. Both excessive watering and not enough watering can slow down or even stop germination of the product. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at INSERT LINK and one of our representatives would be glad to assist you. We hope this issue has not caused you to lose faith in our product, as we use reviews like yours to maintain and improve the quality product that you and other consumers have come to know and love.

fall seeding

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the scotts seed product this fall which consisted of a majority of fescue seed. I am very well pleased with the result and the high degree of germination. I will definitely use this product in the future.

Product got rained out

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in Michigan and we have had a crazy wet spring. I applied the Scott's as overseed. I used a Scott's hand seeder and everything was really easy. Unfortunately, 10 days after I applied we got 24 hours of continual rain. Other than bad timing on my part, I would highly recommend this product. I will use it again, if needed.

This product works great!

This year we got city water hooked up and they dug up half of our front yard. Our front yard has alot of spots that are shaded and few sunny spots. We bought Scotts turf builder Sun and shade mix grass seed and it worked awesome! Our lawn actually looks better than before the work..believe it or not! So proud of our lawn and love this product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used this this product for years. My last yard @ my last house. The yard was a mess ! So I started off killing off the huge amount of moss. Then I used the Four Step Program remember the yard was a mess. Then the next year it got off to good start Used the four step program again ! In the Fall my neighbor across the street was out with his dog he asked if he could walk on my lawn. I said why ? He said it looked like carpeting . I said Wow , Sure! Even my next door neighbor, Asked What do you do to your lawn that makes it look so nice ! I said"TRADE SECRET" LOL P.S. They were mean people !

Sun and Shade grass seed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this on our front lawn to fill in some places that had no grass growing. We loosened the soil and then put down some new dirt and then we put the grass seed on. It started growing within a week and then it filled in. The lawn looked great after that. I would use this grass seed again.

Does not work!

I bought 3 bags of Scotts Patchmaster. Put it down on bare patches left due to recent construction. Prepared soil, watered daily. All I got for my efforts after a month and a half was matted down damp newspaper. NO GRASS. Was there even seed in there?! Can I give it zero stars? I'm done with you Scotts. I'll take my money and my business elsewhere.

Always liked Scott's products, till this one

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately, this product was not what I would have expected from a Scott's product. The grass came in quickly but was literally 75% one specific weed. Also, the grass didn't make it to season two. A lot of work and money for not much return.

We are sorry that you experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. Unfortunately, we cannot be certain why your grass has died after growing at first. Once they start growing, grass seedlings may succumb to environmental factors such as disease, insects, or extremes of temperature and moisture. Our seeds are guaranteed to be 99.9% weed free. Weed seeds are exposed when the soil is turned and will germinate right along with the new seed. Weed seeds may also be introduced to the area through the addition of topsoil or straw. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done.
