Great Value for the money

I bought the Lifetime Yukon Angler Friday August 27, 2021, from Scott at Blain's Farm & Fleet in Traverse City. Go see Scott if you have any questions. This is the 7th Kayak in my fleet of boats. I was fishing out of a Sundolphin Excursion 12SS for 5 years. I had to make several Mods because my legs and feet were falling asleep, so I started looking. I had 3 Lifetime and 3 Sundolphin kayaks all good kayaks. I bought the Yukon and went on a 3 1/2 hour maiden float. It was so comfortable that I went and did it again the next day. Now to get her ready for fishing. Looking for modifications and what I want to do. This Kayak is very stable, comfortable, and tracks well. It is a little heavy and hard to lift but worth the effort. For you skinny guys, I am 5'9" and weigh 250 lbs and I was comfortable and secure.

Long-haul Comfort!

I had been eye-balling this kayak after seeing it in a local store. I have always been cautioned to run away from this brand, but the Yukon really caught my eye. Finally broke down and made the purchase. Unfortunately, I bought it on a weekend with 100+ temperatures and the lake was miserable. Last weekend, I took it out on a fast river with lots of downed trees. No whitewater, but very swift due to high release. Immediately after push off, I hit an eddy that nearly capsized me. I attribute that to my own lack of knowledge and not paying attention while I was getting situated. This thing turned on a dime and allowed me to steer my way through countless downed trees and varying currents. 15 miles in, I hit a tremendous headwind that made paddling a painful chore, despite the current being in my favor. At 16.5 miles and about 5 hours, my arms forced me to cut my journey short. (total trip would have been about 22 miles). Not even once did my back scream at me. This kayak is so incredibly comfortable, I cannot even express my pleasure with it. Everything about this kayak is amazing....except one thing. It is heavy. Trying mount and dismount from my roof is horrible. Aside from that...LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Great platform

Great fishing kayak at any price. Initial stability excellent. Secondary stability good. Speed average for a stand up, sit on top kayak . It's not corky and is not load placement sensitive. It's perfect for a 5'6" truck bed with the tailgate down. The flat floor space is foot trippin free. The boat is NOT heavy to maneuver on a 2 wheel dolly. In the water, I find it is very stable. Got into a school of hyper snook, and it seemed to grab the water with powerful hard running fish trying to pull me over. The seat is great. Could be a couple inches higher giving how stable this boat is. It is however high enough to stuff a bunch of stuff under it. Just strap it down properly and you can't lose it. 260cm paddle would be awesome, but my 230 works just fine. No water tries to enter the scuppers. Paddling in seas with wind, cross seas, quartering to or at the stern is the best way to test a kayak. This boat does a quick list and instantly the secondary stability kicks in. Whoever put this thing together had all these positives in mind. BTW, there is foam core in the hull under the floor so it's solid enough that when you plant your foot, your footing is solid. I'm 6' , 225 lbs, athletic, and never had a conscious inkling of concern of rolling out . The hull is thick enough to predrill and attach stuff if genuine "plastic" screws are used. They have a deeper thread groove for grabbing plastic and come in stainless. It comes out of the hole like a barge, yet cruises effortlessly. When you stop it, it stays put. It's a fishing kayak. Picturing a receiver for a pedal prop drive built into the bottom of the hull maybe in an upgraded offering! As it is, this boat will NOT disappoint

Kayak is great, once issues are worked out.

Okay, I got this kayak late in the middle of 2021 and got to take it out a few times before winter arrived. Upon receiving the kayak, which I had delivered, there were some noticeable and obvious problems. As the pictures show, almost all the scupper holes were still plugged up and I had to carefully cut out the remaining pieces. Next was that the skeg wheel was completely unattached from the kayak which I believe caused some scratching in transport. There were various sized scratches all over the kayak even though it was wrapped pretty well in bubblewrap and foam. A lot of screws were loose and one of the handles was actually attached in the wrong way. I was easily able to fix the loose screws and adjust the handle so it was correct. The skeg wheel was a bit trickier to get back on but it is very secure now that it is which begs the question of how it fell off in the first place. With all those problems, I have enjoyed actually using the kayak. It is very stable in the water to the point where I have purposefully tried to tip it and fell off before it actually flipped. I am not a small person. I'm 5'11 and around 265 Ibs. It tracks pretty well, though it is very slow. Speed is not the point of this kayak though so that is hardly a problem. I would recommend buying in-store and closely checking it out if you have the option. I did not as everywhere was sold out at the time I was looking into getting one. The skeg wheel works fine for short distances but the small wheel often results in it dragging on the ground. The adjustable footrest work well. The gear tracks pre-installed have some screws that stick out to the point of blocking items being put into the tracks without some minor modification.

Shut the front door!

After canoeing 1000's of miles I finally reached the other side and got a yak. #1 purchase point made in USA. Great seat, very stable, flows great in the water, looks awesome, and I cannot stop bragging about my new kayak. I did by the portable wheel system, this is a big boat and after dragging it back and forth to the landing a couple of days it was time to upgrade. Highly recommend this yak!
