It is easy to open fully to fill it with cereal and seems to seal tight. The pourer opener is also tighly sealed so I feel my cereal will last a long time without becoming stale. Coffee is important to keep in an airtight container, but many available containers aren’t big enough for bulk coffee. If you don't have a dish washer like me, I wouldn't recommend as it is difficult to wash! It's BPA free but I am slowly heading toward glass as I like to be able to put it right into the microwave

This Rubbermaid food storage container is far more elegant than usual plastic food containers, so it is a great solution for sharing food with neighbours or bringing food to potluck parties. It is leak proof and does not click open too easily so likely will not open in your backpack although I still use the twist-ons for my daughter's lunch.
