Unfortunately after 3 months our mattress started sagging in the center on both sides. Stearns recommended that we rotate the bed and "the indentations will even out over time." We then rotated our mattress every 4 months and one year later the mattress is unusable. I only weigh 125lbs and my husband is 165lbs. We have a steel base with rigid cross bracing. They would not warranty the bed due to the slats not being 3" wide.

This mattress is very comfortable. We had tried a Temperpedic mattress but was unhappy with it to due excessive heat from the memory foam. Also the edges did not supply the necessary support we were used to. The Stearns and Foster mattress provides the edge support we love and adjusts comfortably on our adjustable bed base. The mattress gives great support for us as older adults. We also find this mattress to craddle us but not hold excessive amounts of heat which provides for a better night rest.

It's very soft, yet firm. It has just the right amount of softness but still leaves plenty of room for support.

Perfect medium firmness with the pillow top adding a little extra cushion. I have been using this for 2 weeks now and have had no issues sleeping on my back, side or stomach. I love that it is compatible with an adjustable base as we will be getting that in the future. I was not able to test this mattress so I relied on the manufacturer rating to make my purchase decision. So, on a scale of 1 to 10 (with a 10 being the most firm), this mattress was rated (by the manufacturer) at a medium comfort level between 4 and 5; however, it feels more like a very firm 8 or 9. Unfortunately, I don't think this unexpected extra firmness will work well for a side sleeper like myself. My advice would be to make sure you can test this mattress yourself and do not rely on the manufacturer's rating to make your purchase decision. My only hope is that, ove time, it will soften enough so I will be able to "comfortably" sleep on my side.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was fortunate to get a Stearns & Foster Studio Medium Tight Top - Queen size as a sample to replace a nondescript mattress of over 15 years. Having never owned a medium tight mattress before, I did some research about it, and apparently medium is preferred for side sleepers as it provides more support to the spine. My partner is a side sleeper and he likes this mattress just fine. I am someone who prefers everything rock hard, like I should just be sleeping on a rice mat or slat of wood, which probably supports my back-sleeping position. This one is soft to the touch and your body sinks right in. But the quality is there. The stitching on the top is there. It looks like a fine, expensive mattress and I suspect this one will hold up as long as the last one did. We got it right before the seasons turned and it was also good at keeping us cool when temperatures were hot at night. And there's no fiberglass!

I actually ordered a less expensive brand, which failed twice to be delivered on time. The store gave me an upgrade of Stearns & Foster! I was very happy about that! I've had this mattress over a month. Best sleep ever. So very comfortable, great support. Thanks, Stearns & Foster for a great product.
