Works great as a power source for an electric trolling motor.
As a Generac employee, I was invited to test the product in exchange for my honest feedback. The GB 1000 exceeded expectations and performed admirably over the course of a weekend at a remote cottage. It provided more power than we needed, so it was refreshing to not have to think about rationing usage of devices. Most notably, we used the battery as a power source for a 65 pound thrust electric trolling motor attached to a floating dock and cruised around the lake for almost two hours. This only consumed about 10% of the battery's capacity, so we probably could have used it for this purpose for the entire day.
Amazing!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This portable power station is a wonderful piece of equipment. It is approximately 14x10x10 inches. It is hefty, but it can be lifted by one hand, although I found carrying it with 2 hands to be easier. When it arrived it was about 23% charged, and took about 2 hours to fully charge. On the display, on the top right it shows a battery outline that tells how much time it will take to fully charge, which is really nice. It also shows how many watts it is using to do the charging, from the wall outlet, it showed it was taking in 400 watts. It has a great variety of outlet types, and all worked well. You can even have multiple items going at the same time, you just have to make sure not to exceed 1600 watts of power. When using the power station, it does have a fan blowing to keep it cool, so there is a low fan sound at all times it is being used. When something is plugged in, it shows on the display how many watts of power is being used. The more watts the shorter the time until the battery needs to be recharged. It also shows on the top right of the display in the battery outline how long the battery will last with the current amount of watts being used. It does blink between to different times, the manual doesn't say what they both mean, but I've deduced that the lesser time is if you keep the display on the whole time, and the longer time is if you turn the display off. I plugged it into my 1100W microwave and heated something for 1.5 minutes. The food came out as it should, however, the display showed that 1800 watts of power was being used, so the fault warning light came on. It also dropped the battery charge by 4% from using the microwave 1.5 minutes. In the manual it gives approximate times on how long you can run different types of electronics which is handy to know. I am most excited to have this as part of my emergency preparedness kit, and have the ability to still use electronics if the power is out. Even though the solar panels are not included with the power station, it is great it can also be charged with solar panels, so that if you're out camping or the power is out, you can still charge it. Overall, this power station is amazing, and is a definite must for emergency preparedness, or anyone who needs a lot of power where there is no power available.
Great portable power station
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Generac portable power station is a great portable option for powering anything on the go. The unit itself weighs about 35 lbs and gets a full charge within 2 hours. When charging it makes a humming sound. Not too bothersome but worth noting. There is a wireless charging pad on top of the unit with is great for charging your phone. It comes with the ability to purchase solar panels separate and recharge with solar. It has ports for usb c and usb a, AC receptacles, and a 12V car port. It has a nice display. Overall a really nice, compact unit.
Excellent product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great backup power generator! Not only is it sturdy and built to last, but it is incredibly functional. With multiple inputs and outputs, you're sure to always be able to have emergency power at your fingertips.
Amazing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually use my inverter at home as backup in case the power goes out and the battery backup fails for my sump pump. This portable power station is my new go to in case of emergency. It's able to be used for so many different scenarios too. Camping, tailgating, parties in a park. I am amazed at what an awesome generator this is. It's light, less than 30lbs, and has a cool storage compartment to keep all my cords neatly organized. The display is user friendly and easy to read. I can charge it to 80% in a little over two hours. It's amazing and I highly recommend it.
Perfect for back up home use!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this product to use as a back up generator for home use in case of emergency. My family soon realized this power station is also great to use in the backyard instead of having to be close to outdoor outlets. The station charges super fast in about 3 hrs for a full charge and i plan to purchase the solar panels sold separately for more convenient outdoor use. I highly recommend this product!
The best portable power station!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the GB1000 Generac power station In the mail a couple weeks ago. It's something I've been wanting to get for a long time. It's simply amazing! It has a AC charging port, DC charging port, NEMA 1-15R AC Receptacles, AC output circuit breaker, DC output on/off button, 12V Car port, USB A & C output receptacles, wireless charging pad on top, display screen, Diffused LED light, Parallel ports, and it also has a cord storage pocket on the back to keep everything together. It's such an amazing product to have in your home. I'm so happy with this brand! It's about 27 lbs. You can also purchase separately some solar panels to charge it as well which is amazing! I highly recommend checking this product out, it's always great to have!
Perfect for the outdoorsman.
As a Generac employee, I was invited to test the product in exchange for my honest feedback. I have used the gb1000 on two occasions. Took it for Deer gun season as a backup in case of generator issues. Thie second for ice fishing trip where we powered our fish finder and underwater camera. Came in handy as well for charging our cell phones. So much nicer than listening to a generator.
Heavy duty with lots of different input & output options - up to 1600 continuous watts
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This power station came at 25% charged and took about 2 hours to fully charge. It includes a variety of different options for input/output including 3 120V outlets (your typical American plug), 2 USB-A ports, 2 USB-C ports, a 12V car outlet, and a wireless charging pad on top. My phone was at 30% and it took about 1 hour to get it to 100% which is pretty quick. It also has a light on the front that can be used in case you don't have a flashlight or other kind of light that can be pugged in. It has 2 different brightness options which I find useful to bring camping. When using either the AC or DC output, you will need to press either the AC or DC buttons on the left and right. If you do not press one of these buttons, the receptacles will not work, as I found out since I wondered why it wasn't charging, even though the unit itself was on. When the station is powered on and you're using it to charge anything (a phone or laptop or anything larger), you can hear the fan going on in the background pretty loudly. It kind of reminds me of when my PC is overheating and the fans are going loudly. You can use 1 or all 3 of the AC receptacles as long as you do not exceed 1600 of continuous watts. You can also see the output of watts on the LCD display that shows the estimated amount of watts currently being used. At the moment, I am using it to charge my laptop and it shows that it uses around 77 watts. This leaves me plenty of extra wattage to use any of the other outlets or ports for other uses. Pass-through charging is supported, where you can both charge the station as well as use power from it at the same time. I personally would not do this often, as I read that it can reduce battery life, but it's good to have just in case and good to know. There is also a parallel connection so that you can connect 2 Generac power stations together to get increased run time. Overall, this is a fantastic power station that provides a lot of different options depending on your needs and circumstances that you'll be using it for. One of the things that I'm looking forward to is getting the solar panel (not included) to use with the solar connecting cord that came with this unit. I can't speak to how that works as of right now, since I do not have the panel, however, it's awesome that it came with it as an option.
Amazing Camping Gear
Used this for tent camping and it's a must have tool as it was used to power : -multiple phones -several 115V equipment such as kettle The integrated light bar was very handy as it lit up the tent. Doesn't emit noise which is very handy in a campsite.
