Nice improvements

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A lot easier to dispense fuel. My old gas can you have to push in and down this one’s much easier because you push the black and the green knob in the same direction. This one also has a handle in the back and the top, which I really like.

Gas

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very hesitant at first when I got this gas can because of the spout and saw that it had a safety button on it. When using this product I was very pleased with how it performed and how easy it was to use.

A total failure.

I haven't found a good new style gas can, but this is the worst one yet. I had high hopes that this one might be better. The very first time I used it, my hand got soaked with gasoline from the handle that allows the fuel to flow. The gasoline was coming out of the handle, as well as the spout where it is supposed to. It spilled all over the top of my generator. And it either blew up like a balloon, or collapsed like a empty soda can, due to the change in temperature, due to the very thin material the can is made from. The search for a useable gas can continues.

Hi Michael - We apologize for your experience. Customer satisfaction is very important to Scepter. Please contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-387-6018 or email customerservice@scepter.com so that we can resolve this for you. Similar to medication packaging, gas/diesel cans must also adhere to strict child resistance packaging laws. All fuel containers sold in the United States must come equipped with a child-safety lock and adhere to environmental regulations (EPA). These cans are certified by EPA and CARB and sealed for emissions. When it is hot in the summer you can expect the fuel can to balloon a bit as the gases force the can to expand and when the temperature drops the fuel can may contract and the sides pull in. This product should only be used with the spout it came with at the time of purchase. Every automobile/equipment is different, so it is not a one size fits all situation. The SMARTCONTROL gas can, is designed to be used with your palm. Step 1: Vent the fuel can by slowly unscrewing the cap, allow all the pressure to escape. Once vented re-tighten cap. You may find that placing the fuel can flat on the ground and actuating the spout once or twice prior to use may allow the green pad to slide easier during operation. Step 2: Flip up dark lever on back of spout with your palm. Step 3: With the dark green lever still flipped up, push the entire light green pad forward. It will be stiff as that is part of the child resistant feature. Again, you may find that placing the fuel can flat on the ground and actuating the spout once or twice prior to use may allow the green pad to slide easier during operation. Step 4: Tilt can and pour. This can has a flow rate of 3+ gallons per minute when actuated fully. The “screen” you see in the neck of the fuel can is actually a safety device called a flame mitigation device (FMD). Its inclusion in fuel containers is part of a 2020 U.S. law to improve overall safety. It does not make it safe to mix Gas and Fire, which remains extremely dangerous, but helps to protect the consumer against situations of potential misuse. Do not ever remove or modify the FMD. We understand that filling the containers now requires the user to learn to rest the pump in the center of the FMD, on the steps, to fill at full speed. The spout has a channel for venting when pouring. You can also choose simply to take your time filling the container. We have posted both fill and pour instructions online at https://www.scepter.com/safety/instructional-videos/ which should help. We are here to help!

This is pretty neat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this on my truck the other day cuz I messed up and forgot to fill up. Thank the lord Jesus I had this in the back of my bed. I only had to walk a quarter mile in 94 degree weather but hey my fault for not paying attention. Any ways I was very impressed by this new container. I had no issues filling up

Perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] 5G SmartControl Gas Container w/ Rear Handle gets the job done. It feels very sturdy and by design easier to handle. I like the child lock too. I recommend watching YouTube video or try the opening mechanism before filing the 5G SmartControl Gas Container.

Easy to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately I remember the days before the safety gas cans when you didn’t have to have a phd in order to use one, but this can so far is fairly easy to use. There no twisting and pulling of a collar to get it to work, you simply release the safety and push the lever to release the fumes then pour. This container works well, and it’s probably going to be the best can you can use, aside from a pre-safety gas container. All the parts feel sturdy and like it should last a while.

Is my second one

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had gotten one of these a few years ago and really liked it. So when my son mentioned his gas can had no lid, I got him one too. I love how spill and splatter are pretty much non-existent. Easy to control and pour.

Safe and easy to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted a gas can that not only had a large capacity, but one that was safe and easy to pour. The controlled rate of flow function is exactly the type of safety I was looking for. Having a top and back handle makes it easy to hold and I can control the flow rate to easily fill even small items. I highly recommend the Scepter gas container!

Fire hazard poor design

Poorly manufactured design. When filling container fuel pump nozzle will not fit and fuel splashes out on the ground. There numerous others who have purchased this item with the plastic filter.inside the opening being actually a fire danger and this should be recalled as it is dangerous .
