Igen4500df

Just received this generator dual fuel 4500 so far so good did the breaking. Getting ready to take a trip in two weeks to test it out on the living quarters horse trailer will say this changing the oil is a real painand they need to come up with a better system on an adapter to make it easier

Perfect for my application.

I needed a generator that would handle the AC/Heat unit, microwave, large fan, and all of the florescent lights in our race trailer. This iGen4500DF generator handled all those things and it fits nicely in the generator cabinet. A nice bonus is that it is very quiet.

Very easy set up!

I ordered my iGen5000DFc after a fair amount of research into which generator would best suit my needs for my RV. At the time of this review I have yet to use or even run my generator because camping season is still over a month away. One thing I can say is that I was very impressed with how easily this unit was to set up. After unboxing there's nothing to it. This has got to be the easiest setup for a generator this size that I have ever seen.

This generator is dangerous!!!

This generator has a lot of nice features, reasonably quiet, dual fuel, remote start and stop which is why I purchased it. HOWEVER it has reversed polarity, meaning the neutral terminal is hot and the positive terminal serves as neutral. That is an electrocution or at minimum a shock hazard! If it was wired correctly I would give it 5 stars but because of the inherent dangers I gave it 1 and until this is corrected I would not recommend it to anyone.

GREAT INVERTER/GENERATOR

Bought for our RV. Husband got it hooked up to RV & started it with fab. So easy to start compared to the old one we had, that was pull start. It was very quiet. Then he turned on the Air Conditioner in RV while I stayed outside and could not tell it got any louder. Love this inverter. Easy to move with handle and wheels. Definitely would recommend this inverter.

As expected

I've only had my unit a few days and generally I'm happy with it. It's quiet, starts easily and does the things it's supposed to do. It's a good looking unit and reasonably well built (see below). However, if you buy one there are a few things you should know. First, if you read online reviews you'll discover a lot of complaints about the automatic choke not working. Westinghouse blames this on delivery drives just kicking the units off the tailgate when they deliver, which is true. That abuse can and usually does cause the automatic choke cable to become disconnected from the control board. It can also cause the starter cable to become disconnected from the control board. Westinghouse could have easily accounted for this problem by spending 5 cents more on longer cables to allow more movement but they chose not to. They've published an inaccurate service bulletin describing how to fix it. Be aware that while Westinghouse may not be aware of all the fasteners they use to attach the housing, but you need to be. The attached marked up service bulletin shows where to look for the additional fasteners that Westinghouse doesn't tell you about. If you don't find them you'll either not be able to complete the repair or will break something in trying. Just look under all the rubber grommets surrounding the engine access panel and you should be able to find them all. Proceed carefully until you don't feel resistance pulling the panel off. Second, and a minor complaint is the engine oil they supply. The initial oil fill instructions clearly state that you should pour the entire contents of the supplied bottle of oil into the engine using the very handy funnel they provide. Unfortunately, the bottle contains far more than the crankcase will hold. Since you don't learn this until you see the oil backing up into the funnel neck, you have a mess on your hands. You must let the oil seep back out of the oil fill port until it gets down to the proper level. So beware if you hate spilling oil in your garage as much as I do. This is another easily avoidable problem, but we always follow the instructions, don't we? Other than those two annoyances I'm pleased with the unit so far and would recommend it to friends.

Really good quality, starts right up.

Filled it up with the provided oil (DO NOT ASSUME IT'LL TAKE THE WHOLE CONTAINER). make sure to fill in increments to the correct level. Connected the battery, added some gas, adjusted the fuel source, turned the power switch "ON" and started right up via the remote key fob. This generator purrs like a kitten. Out of the box it looks of good quality and design. I only ran the machine for a 5 minute break in period but so far it has shown superb performance. Looking forward to running it to power our camper during these next few festivals lined up in the Fall.

Quiet And Powerful

I have only had this generator for a week and am so glad I purchased this quiet beast. Easy to start (just push a button!), Easy to move around (and it comes with the wheels telescoping handle already on) and is not too heavy. Just plug in the battery, add oil and gas or propane, and you are good to go. For the most part, I will be using the RV outlet (TT-30R); it also has two 15/20 amp outlets and two usb outlets. It is great on gas and being an inverter only uses what is needed for what you are powering. No problem running a heater or air conditioner, or just a few lights in my trailer. This generator is so quiet you know it is on because your lights or heater is on and not because you hear it running. I really like the date display that lets me knows my voltage, hours of use, running time left. This West. iGen 4500DF is well worth its cost.
