The guide plate is welded on-A great safety feature! But this would not work for the project scoring or marking needed.

Does not seem to have much power. It cuts paper, though do not think it will cut fabric. Serious consider returning it.

Cuts carpet great

Used it to cut outdoor carpet easily . Will sometimes require effort to cut thick card board. Holds a charge a long time.
