I love that it’s a reliable option for birth control, so I can focus on life without constantly worrying about planning around my cycle. It’s easy to take every day, and I haven’t had any weird or uncomfortable side effects so far. The three-month pack is perfect for someone like me who wants to make any reoccurring things I have to do (pick up meds, order refills, any type or errands) as simplified and easy as possible. The less I have to do to get these things completed, the better. When I was on a one month pack, I’d constantly forget to request my next refill & then pick it up (and sometimes the pharmacy would be out)!! Sometimes I’d be too late remembering and miss a day or two, which kinda defeats the purpose of taking it daily for it to work. The three month pack at once in my hands is amazing. Definitely a win for convenience and peace of mind.

I have had some irregular spotting, but I’m hoping that it will eventually go away as my periods become more regular. Making a safe, over-the-counter pill available removes a major barrier for people who may not have consistent access to healthcare or prescriptions. That alone makes it an important step forward. That said, I do have some concerns. Because it’s available without a prescription, there’s a risk it could create a false sense of security and unintentionally discourage regular STD testing or conversations about sexual health. Birth control prevents pregnancy, but it doesn’t replace the need for protection or testing. As for side effects, mine were relatively mild ... mainly exhaustion and some spotting. Nothing unmanageable, but definitely noticeable. Overall, Opill may be a viable alternative for many women now and even more so in the future, especially as education and awareness around responsible use continue to grow.

It has also decreased my appetite and I’ve been losing a decent amount of weight. I know for some people the weight loss is not a good thing, but for me, I love it given that the shot made me gain ALOT of weight. No increase in acne or mood swings. Obviously the side effects will be different for other people, but it doesn’t hurt to give it a try even if it’s for one month!

I had constant spotting, my cycle felt all over the place, and I noticed mood changes I hadn’t experienced with other birth control options. I still think it could be a great choice for a lot of people, but it just wasn’t the right fit for my body. I eventually switched to a different method that felt more consistent and stable.

I originally went on birth control to control my acne and alleviate severe cramping that I would get during my period. This pill formula doesn’t have the same chemical properties that other birth control pills do that takes those two reasons into consideration when identifying why women might take an oral contraceptive. For that reason alone, I don’t feel comfortable trusting Opill as a primary method of oral birth control, and have returned to the old chemical compound I was originally prescribed by my doctor.
