The grip is as flexible as as the rest of the shaft and there's no way to maintain any type of grip; in fact, it actually hurts my hands to swing it due to the amount of flex in the grip.

Great for loosening up. Extreme shaft flexibility helps control backstroke speed and helps to remind you to "whip" your wrists at the bottom of your forward swing.
