OVERLY SPICY & OVERLY OILY - OTHERWISE TASTY

I remember eating Andy Capp's many years ago, I remember them as being really tasty, so I decided to buy a 48 count box of these Andy Capp's hot fries. I might have eaten the cheddar version in the past, and these hot version are tasty, at least for the first 5 bites, but there is an issue. I think they tried to make this snack too tasty and sort of ruined the snack. This is a corn and potato snack which is baked. Everyone knows how corn pops into popcorn, and when baked, the corn puffs up and results in a crunchy snack in the shape of a fry, this is where the problem comes in. The main purpose of baking snacks compared to frying the snack, is so that the snack is less oily. Not with Andy Capp's, to maximize the crunchiness, they spray this snack with too much oil before baking, which results in a snack that is slightly more oily than other snack foods. I love spicy foods, and all too often foods spiced with jalapenos or chilies, end up being over spiced, this is sadly the case with this Andy Capp's hot fries. Eating a single .85 ounce bag of this snack, causes my nose to run like crazy, it is not the most desirable after effect. This runny nose situation does happen with spicy foods, but when this much of a runny nose occurs, it is a sign of a product that has too much spiciness added. If this product was not overly sprayed with oil and was not overly spicy, it would be a tastier and healthier snack. If you like really hot foods and don't mind snacks that are too oily, then this might be a snack you can handle. As of the time of writing this review, Sam's Club does not carry the cheddar version of Andy Capp's fries. I would probably eat the cheddar version every so often, but the hot version is just too hot for my preference.
