Great watch - especially for the price!

I bought this watch to help improve my training and am so happy I did. I previously used an Apple Watch and the features on the forerunner are very helpful. I’ve found the guided runs are nice when I don’t know what run to do for the day. One of my favorite features is the recovery tool. I’d highly recommend this watch to anyone.

Light, and functional

This is my 1st Garmin watch. I focused on heart rate monitoring while exercising, not a "smartwatch." The setup was easy, and once I learned the button system, operations were also easy. This seems to be a very good heart rate and exercise watch. Battery life averages 5-8 days.

Great New Features!

I needed to get a new running watch because my Garmin 45 was on its last legs, so I bought the Garmin 55. The Garmin 55 is a great base watch and has new features not present in the 45 like suggested runs and recovery time after runs. These have been very helpful for my running. There are also more activity types to load to the watch, which is super.

Great Watch!

This watch is just what I needed. For years I simply carried my phone in my hand while running and I finally decided to invest in a lightweight GPS watch. It tracks what I need for running (distance, time, pace, heart rate, and more) and it's nice that I can track other activities. I only wear it to track my activities so the battery lasts for weeks without needing charging. Syncs with my phone quickly and downloads via Bluetooth to the app on my phone. I like all the different charts you can examine to get various perspectives on performance.

Some good features

I've been a Garmin user for years. Loved my Forerunner 45 but the battery started to be unreliable after 4+ years. Forerunner 55 was advertised as the next model in the line and as a basic GPS watch, no extra bells and whistles. I have found, however, that there are quite a few extra bells and whistles and with my limited tech knowledge it's been a challenge to set it up the way I want and get the data I want. Downloaded the owner's manual but still struggling. I DO love the longer battery life, and I love that it tells you what percent of battery is left instead of guessing the number of green bars. I also love that it locks on to the GPS really quickly. I'm sure the rest of my issues will get sorted out eventually and then it will be smooth sailing - or running.

Pure simple digital watch with smart features

I really like the 1+week battery, the standard digital watch face you can download, the simple app controls, even the non touch screen is a plus for me. This specific LCD screen has a better viewing angle than my last Samsung gear watch (and not needing to do a gesture to see the screen as it is always on). The non touch screen keeps my toddler from changing the settings. My only comment is that proprietary connector is a straight plug in the back. Otherwise this is a perfect watch for those that want a simple smartwatch or as I like to describe it as a watch with smart features.

keeps me alive

As an 85 year old runner my watch is all important. It came to me preprogrammed so does strange things like when I start a run it shows a certain number of minutes and then the timer goes backward until Ive run this minutes! My last Garmin was a Forerunner 45 and the 55 has more changes than I would have liked as I needed help to get it working. However its an amazing watch and I love it. I could swim in it but I'm afraid to!

Underwhelming

I received this watch as an work anniversary gift. I was excited to be able to see what Garmin was all about but was let down. I have owned Samsung smart watches, Citizen Smart watches and figured that this watch would be right inline with those. I guess I had an unreal expectation due to the quality of my previous watches. The watch is really basic, lacks functionality and does not have the same features that other smart watches have. It is hard to navigate the apps. It feels like an old school game boy system, honestly. I would say this is a great introduction to smart watches, but if you have experience with other brands I would stay away.

Went beyond my expectations

I wanted a watch I could trust the measurements. So after talking with a couple friends that run, they told me a Garmin would be the best choice, as it has the best gps signal, the best app info, the best data to study, and so on. So I chose the FR 55, even it being an entry model, it still offers a lot. And it offers all I need. No music, no need to swim, no need other features, etc. It offers the essential enough. It has a nice design, is very light, and doesn't bother at all. I try to keep it 24/7. The screen is awesome. It reflects the light, so it looks like it's turned on and have a backlight but no. It saves a lot of battery. Talking about the battery, it's a good one, it can hold up to 2 wees or more depending on the use. The app is outstanding, and you can also download its sibling and choose a huge variety of watchfaces, which is amazing. So, that is it, that's my opinion. I loved the watch. I think I could've bought it earlier haha because I liked it a lot.

Multi-Purpose Watch

I got this recently and I'm very pleased with the outcome. A watch that can be used for all single sports (not multiple, for example triathlons). Amazing results and very pleased with the product. The only problem is auto-pause. When I stop, it is meant to auto-pause after 0-5 seconds, but I have waited up to 10 before pausing it myself. When I restart and keep going after a break, it tends to auto-pause 2-3 times before it continues recording steadily.
