Don't let the name JVC fool you. It may not be the same quality product you may be accustomed to. Since 2011, JVC televisions for North America have been manufactured under the license of JVC Kenwood by Amtran Video, a unit of the giant Taiwanese contract-television manufacturer, Amtran. Amtran also makes Vizio televisions. With this in mind, the only complaints or dislikes about this television I have is with the remote. It isn't a standard remote you would expect to come with a television. It is a small and simple Roku remote. Additionally, should you misplace the remote, there are no on/off and channel up/down buttons on the television. So, unless you have a smartphone and have downloaded one of the many available apps for a Roku based television, you will be looking at a dark screen. My other complaint/dislike is the sound quality. There is no quality to the sound that comes from this television. The speakers are apparently very small and are unable to produce quality sound. However, there is some good news. The television accepts external sound systems, which I think you will want to consider adding if you are thinking about purchasing this television.

Super easy to set up. Great price! Cheaper than most 40” TVs elsewhere! This TV also has the cool feature—after setting up your antenna, you can insert a thumb drive to setup live tv playback. It will allow you to rewind the channel you are watching up to 90 minutes, which is great so you can skip all the commercials! Also Roku (which is built in to this tv) gives you a free “cable-like” line up with 700 channels. This is new this year—roku didn't do this until after Christmas 2020. My only complaint is that the audio that comes out of the tv is crap. I've tried “theater” and “bass enhanced”, etc, but nothing really helps. This has been a issue on cheaper TVs I've had in the past, so it's not unexpected at this price. Just plan on hooking up a sound bar or a couple speakers during install.

Television broke in a little over one year of light use. Still in warranty but JVC support is the worst ever. Sent photos, receipts, more photos, photos of official label, a short video of the television when it was on and how it had lines across 1/3 of the screen, credit card statement with purchase, original receipt and still wasn't enough for this disreputable company. I have never had a problem with a television in more than 30 years, I can't think of a brand we haven't used. JVC is garbage and they don't stand behind their garbage. If you want problems buy a JVC.

Surprisingly nice tv. Speakers work well. That was my biggest worry that I would also have to get a sound bar like the last 2 TVs we bought.

Easy to set up and programing was a pain, but had nothing to do with TV. Sound and pictire are excellent

Well we purchased this TV 5/10/21 and less than a year later it has thick lines through the screen. JVC will not respond to calls or emails. So basically only buy if you can afford to buy another one next year.

Once we got the tv to open to the tv provider Great no more squinting!
