From a Satisfied Owner of the Tamarack 120 Kayak

I bought this kayak last May. It was a rash purchase by just basing on the price and its features. I've used it many times in the lake, and I can't tell the difference paddling this yak compared to other 10 footer sit-on tops. This kayak is very stable that I can easily stand on it, not very fast, but what can we expect in a non-touring type boat. I am amazed how it tracks well with less fishtailing. It is reasonably priced and outfitted with bungees, hatch, backrest, handles, paddle holder and etc . Since I have the earlier version of the Tamarack 120, the side handle came off the rivets. I contacted Lifetime and they sent me the necessary hardwares to fix it - I say thumbs up! for good customer service.

Good for the money!!!

I got myself a Tamarack 120 this past summer (2013)... I have taken it out a bunch of times and I am ready to write a review. I bought this kayak based on the price alone. I had done the research, on all types and makes and models of kayaks. I narrowed it down to two, and I chose this one because, for an entry level kayak it was $250 less than the other one I wanted. For the price, you do get a lot however. Reading reviews on this kayak from other sites and vendors, there were complaints of there not being a seat cushion, and weak/faulty carry handles. I don't have these issues as mine had a seat cushion, and what looked to be different, more well constructed and more well fastened carry handles. I have only two complaints. The storage compartments/hatches, and how they are not individual spaces. They open into the hull of the boat, and that's just not practical! With a little creativity, and ingenuity you can customize the hatches, to be more functional for fishing. My other complaint is the construction of the stern hull(or back underside). If you notice in the picture you can see an elongated rectangular piece or what may act as a rudder... My guess is this is for stability, because you can stand on this kayak, and balance easily. However when paddling, the bulky shape of it causes the backside to "waggle". Sort of like a duck... This makes tracking slow, and hard work especially in choppy conditions! This is expected in a kayak under 12ft. Overall, for a beginner kayak, not a bad choice, especially if you are not looking to invest too much in a sport you may not enjoy, or eventually not have time for. ITS A GOOD BANG FOR THE BUCK, AND I RECOMMEND IT!!!

Seat is comfortable, dry boxes are a joke

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ordered through another vendor for my husband... the kayak seat is comfortable. HOWEVER, the dry storage "compartments" (Two 6" Storage Compartments in Rear and Center) is a joke! There are two 6" round lids that open into the ENTIRE hull of the kayak! There is not 2 "compartments". Therefore, if you throw your keys & phone into the "compartment" between your legs, it will slide from the front of the kayak to the rear & getting your stuff out is nearly impossible. Horrible engineering flaw.

Best Kayak On The Market

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Researched about 7 brands of kayaks. Purchased this one last summer and hope to buy another for use by friends. I'm 65 and afraid of the water. Never thought I would get in a kayak. It is so stable and easy to handle you could use it like a paddle board. Tracks well and plenty of storage for fishing, etc. Well made with super tough material, comfortable seat/back rest and easy for me to transport and handle by myself. I use it almost every day June-August--canals, harbor and Albemarle Sound in NC. Lifetime backs their product. I definitely made the right choice. Very happy.

Great fishing kayak!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this last year just for floating, however, since then my husband has turned it into his fishing boat. He loves all the storage and the features it has. Super comfortable to spend hours on the lake with. He has added a few after market items but mostly it's perfect just the way it came. Sometimes he even just practices his casting from it on the lawn!

2nd kayak I bought love it

I love this kayak for the price, it's stable out on the bay, plenty of room to fish. Easy to maneuver, and my like like it better than their recreational kayaks. I just love it. Thinking about getting a new one. Just one thing, don't loose the compartment covers. Hard to get another one.

Great Product - Great Service

We purchased our Tamerack Angler Kayaks 3 years ago and LOVE them! Comfortable, Stable and with great features such as pole holders, storage and comfortable seat back. We purchased a YAK pad for the seat to make it even more comfortable. Recently I lost the cover to the center storage compartment coming back from a trip. I contacted Lifetime via e-mail to see if I could order a replacement. Much to my surprise, they shipped a replacement to me free of charge. GREAT customer service!

I'm a newbie..

I'm a newbie to kayaking and also wanted to be able to fish. I bought the combo package ( 2 kayaks) and they came faster than expected. It seemed quite large but then it isn't when you're on it. It tracks fairly well..as far as I can tell. The "2 compartments" are actually just ports into the hull without a divider. The only other recommendation I would make is the information on the paddle size (cm) and if it floats. I have no clue what size it is, but it does float after testing. I added some floating ball scuppers that I'd seen on Youtube and they work perfectly. I'm hoping to have a lot of fun on them.

Best bang for your buck!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this kayak last weekend and have had it in the water multiple times. This kayak is very stable, first day out was on rougher waters, and even though I haven't been in one in years, I had no issues. You can lean side to side without feeling like you're going to dump it. The only downside, as mentioned above, is the storage space that allows gear to go everywhere, so plan accordingly. I'm looking to install some sort of cargo netting inside to help control this. I was skeptical buying this being a bigger guy, 6' and 255lbs on a good day, however this thing handles me and my 3 year old with no issues. I highly recommend this kayak for anyone curious about fishing off of one. For the price, this can't be beat.

Excellent Value Kayak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my kayak over a 2 months ago. Got it a month ago and just got it out. I Love it, It tracked well and was easy to get in and out of. I am a big guy 6ft 250 and with my gear I am at the max. It handled me just fine no issue. I did upgrade to the lifetime angler Kayak paddle. I also upgrade to the Cascade Mountaintech stadium seat and then added a pad. My seat is very comfortable. I made a mod to make the hatches more usable and had not seen it done before. I put Pad Eyes under the hatch and riveted it from the top. I added a bungee. see included pictures. Also, Just saw the Lifetime 11' 6" Yukon Kayak. Now I have kayak envy. Maybe next year.
