great all around kayak

bought this last spring(2012) first one, use for fishing ,ponds, and rivers. you won"t find a better kayak for the money. stable, easy too handle, runs good in the water. bought a 3 inch high seat, great for fishing, and seeing fish in shallow water. could not be any happier with this purchase.

Excellent design, features and solid quality

High quality and a great color (tired of seeing red blue and orange kayaks everywhere). Lots of nice features including plenty of storage (for a sit-on kayak) including two waterproof covered lockers and two bunge corded platforms all with quality marine fittings. Unique seating configuration allows the nicely padded and solidly hinged back to fold down for transportation. There is no seat bottom cushion, so I bought a closed cell seat pad and now it's super comfy even on all day paddles. Since this model is designed for fishing (and long periods of sitting still) Lifetime could have figured out a way to integrate a sat pad? But it's and easy fix. This kayak is perfect for the Florida Everglades and the lazy scenic rivers here but I've also taken it in the ocean (plenty of room for diving gear) and it is very stable in the surf. Really happy with this well designed kayak

Great fishing kayak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this mainly for my 11 year old who loves fishing. Wasn't sure how he'd do on his own but last week we went to Lake Powell and all he wanted to do was fish. He caught a 22" Striper and a 22" Walleye from his kayak with no issues. Glad I invested in the fishing kayak! Now I'll need to get me one too. It's awesome!

Great fishing kayak!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this last year just for floating, however, since then my husband has turned it into his fishing boat. He loves all the storage and the features it has. Super comfortable to spend hours on the lake with. He has added a few after market items but mostly it's perfect just the way it came. Sometimes he even just practices his casting from it on the lawn!

really good kayak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a two part review. First is for using as it was designed. Second is using it for what it wasn't and that's fast water and rapids. As a flat/slow water fishing kayak I love it. The keel keeps it tracking good, paddles easy and plenty fast enough. It's light enough to load and load it out of my truck even with all fishing gear already on it. Stable enough to stand up in in calmer waters. It also paddles into a fairly stiff wind with little effort. If this is what you need in a kayak my recommendation is buy it. Now for they say it's not for. :) I live on the Llano river in central Texas. River flows anywhere from 50 cfs to 100,000 cfs depending on rain fall, it's also a boulder and granite strewn river every inch of it's 80 miles. . Today it was upto 408 when we headed out for some fun in the rapids. My concern was that same keel I love when fishing. I was worried it would hit rocks in the fast current of rapids (far faster then the 400 cfs) and turn me sideways and cause me to get dumped. Much to my pleasure it's wide enough that it never once did that even when dropping down waterfalls of around three feet high. it just went right on down. Bow plunging under water often which is expected and still easily controlled. The scupper holes drained fairly fast and a lot faster than my buddies yak from another maker. There was also barely any water in the hull even though the hatches were completely submerged many times. So if you want a fishing kayak that can also do some whitewater get this one. Lifetime says flat water only but what do they know.

From a Satisfied Owner of the Tamarack 120 Kayak

I bought this kayak last May. It was a rash purchase by just basing on the price and its features. I've used it many times in the lake, and I can't tell the difference paddling this yak compared to other 10 footer sit-on tops. This kayak is very stable that I can easily stand on it, not very fast, but what can we expect in a non-touring type boat. I am amazed how it tracks well with less fishtailing. It is reasonably priced and outfitted with bungees, hatch, backrest, handles, paddle holder and etc . Since I have the earlier version of the Tamarack 120, the side handle came off the rivets. I contacted Lifetime and they sent me the necessary hardwares to fix it - I say thumbs up! for good customer service.

I'm a newbie..

I'm a newbie to kayaking and also wanted to be able to fish. I bought the combo package ( 2 kayaks) and they came faster than expected. It seemed quite large but then it isn't when you're on it. It tracks fairly well..as far as I can tell. The "2 compartments" are actually just ports into the hull without a divider. The only other recommendation I would make is the information on the paddle size (cm) and if it floats. I have no clue what size it is, but it does float after testing. I added some floating ball scuppers that I'd seen on Youtube and they work perfectly. I'm hoping to have a lot of fun on them.

Tamarack Angler Kayak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this Kayak for a great deal from the B stock inventory. I absolutely love that I can put this on top of my car and go. I'm pleased with the stability of the product and the ease of fishing from the kayak.

Heavy Duty

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I say Heavy duty because it is quite heavy to lift on top of my sequoia and Duty because once I get it off my truck, it gets the job done on the water. It's a simple but awesome Kayak that really has given us a lot of enjoyment.

Best Kayak On The Market

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Researched about 7 brands of kayaks. Purchased this one last summer and hope to buy another for use by friends. I'm 65 and afraid of the water. Never thought I would get in a kayak. It is so stable and easy to handle you could use it like a paddle board. Tracks well and plenty of storage for fishing, etc. Well made with super tough material, comfortable seat/back rest and easy for me to transport and handle by myself. I use it almost every day June-August--canals, harbor and Albemarle Sound in NC. Lifetime backs their product. I definitely made the right choice. Very happy.
