Hello. Because our laminates have an AC4 rating, chipping should not occur with normal residential use. However, it is important to follow the instruction guide when installing the planks to prevent damage. Our backing is made out of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene). EPS is a lightweight material with good insulation characteristics offering benefits such as thermal resistance, excellent impact strength as well as dimensional stability. Thank you, Select Surfaces.
