The purple allows them to see where on the page the glue was put (so they do not accidently glue the wrong things together). The purple then dries clear so you would not have known it went on purple.

With my kids being out of school and being homeschooled now, Elmer's glue is used a lot in my home. We do a lot of art projects to pass the time. My kids love that the glue comes purple because it's easier to see when completing projects and you know when something is dry. With small children, we are constantly doing art projects to stimulate creativity. These glue sticks work so well and easy to use, especially for small hands. I love that they are washable. This means that the glue comes off clothes and hands easily. It also comes out of hair and off the furniture easily as well. I like the fact that it is non-toxic and safe for children.
