Glad I bought the Best

I needed a shredder for years but just got my first. Researched before I bought and narrowed it down to Fellowes, fellowes, or fellowes. Have been purging my garage of years of excess IRS records. It is easy and safe (and fun) to use. Now, what else can I shread.

First Impressions

Since I just got the shredder, these are my first impressions. First thing I noticed was that the shredder head is HEAVY. I consider this a good thing, indicating a strong motor. Another thing I found (as per other reviews) is that the rollers are hard to push into the holes. I found that pressing down while wiggling forward and back and side to side would get them to "clunk" or "click" into place. Assembly was simple, and it is a fine looking machine when finished. The first thing I did after assembly was oil the cutters. There is a small bottle of oil that comes with it and it seems that it will give about 5 or 6 uses before running out. Don't cut the tip off - poke a hole into the tip with a safety pin or something similar. This will keep you from flooding the cutters with too much oil when servicing. Once the cutters were oiled, I ran a few sheets of paper through, and was glad to find the operation smooth and relatively quiet. After that I shredded about half a basket worth of paper with no problems. Time will tell, but I feel confident that as long as I do my part with care and upkeep, it should be more than adequate for my needs.

What's to Complain About?

This shredder replaced another cross-cut shredder I had for about five years. The other was noisy and jammed itself frequently by getting the confetti stuck in its shredder mechanism on the output side. This shredder is quiet, never jams and works so well, I don't even think about it. When it shipped, the caddy that attaches to the back was missing. It's not important, but it's convenient for storing the shredder's documentation. I called customer support and they shipped it out, no problem. So what would I improve? Maybe beef up the plastic shredder drawer a little. Summary: Buy it.

FELLOWES SHREDDERS NEVER DISAPPOINT

We have been purchasers of Fellowes shredders and other office supplies for years. I purchased this 9/12/14 because one of ours finally quit; another is barely hanging on, and two others were just set out for recycling. We appreciate the quiet operation of the shredders a well as the variety of options available. We are all about 'safety,' so that feature is #1 in our book. For as many people that use the ones we purchase, they last a very long time and are well worth the money invested in them.

Finally, a real shredder

I had been through 3 shredders prior to this purchase - mostly your standard office shredder. After the third break down, I finally had it - I was determinined to find a decent shredder that was not too expensive. What a nice improvement - quiet, easy to use, easy to dump, and a wonderful machine that handles my whole office shredding need. I would recommend this shredder to anyone in need.

I was amazed at how this machine performs. It is fast, is safe to use and very quiet. The shredded material would not allow anyone to decipher any information on any documents shredded. I am totally satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone. This machine is well built with a lot of features and durability to last.

A Startling Surprise

I’m a collector, an octogenarian, so have for many years saved cards, letters and poetry from my husband, mother, children and friends; love letters from old boyfriends; receipts, and records of work and business, all too personal to throw in the curbside trash. Did I want my children to encounter this mountain of paper clutter? NO! So I bought three shredders one-by-one. By file fifteen, or less in one case, they clattered, stopped, had to be begged to take one sheet at a time. Finally growing discouraged I started looking at other people’s opinions of better shredders; perusing reviews by those who’d tested several shredders and discovered the Fellowes PS-79Ci had a good reputation. I bought one, however I was dubious of its staying power. I am having a grand surprise. To empty the previous shredders I had to lift off the tops which were awkward and heavy. And they all filled much too quickly. My Fellowes container is large enough to hold one stuffed file which works for me, the weight being just right to manage as I slide out the basket and dump the pieces into a garbage bag. Too often the other shredders were hot, quit working, always before I could get the contents of one file folder through them. This shredder gets hot after about three stuffed files. That’s just right, too, for I’m tired of sitting by then, ready to walk around for awhile, smell my roses and admire the moss rose … or start lunch, drink a cup of coffee, relax. Forty-six large black garbage bags of shredded paper later, I am thankful to all of the people who suggested I buy one. I estimate I have forty-six more bags at least to go, but now have the faith … my Fellowes is up to the job. And happily, in a final win-win, a nephew is plowing under the shredded material as mulch for his next year’s garden so my lifelong collection of memories will live on. I visualize them now … as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers.

SuperShredder

Being newly hired at a public transit agency, I soon saw that I would need to purchase a shredder; however, not just any shredder would do. It had to be reliable, it had to be as jam-proof as possible and it had to be compact enough to fit in my small office. To say I am pleased with my Fellowes PS-79Ci shredder is an understatement! It shreds confidential material with ease. It even shreds CDs, paperclips and staples! It is small enough to fit in my office and the wheels make moving the unit a breeze. When I saw the Fellowes name, I knew that I was getting an exceptional product and they have not let me down. I would recommend this unit to anyone.

Definitely Jam Proof

I don't have time to mess around with things when they don't work properly. That's why I bought the 79Ci. It looked like it was robust enough to not jam...and it never jams! I love that. I have had shredders in the past that took so much time to feed carefully that you hated to have to use them. If you want a hassle-free, multi-sheet shredder, this is the one.

Powershred 79Ci

Did not like the rollers that came with this. Found out I had to "hammer" them in, which was not in the instructions. Took numerous times to do this before they would stay in. This is my 3rd Fellowes shredder so I hope this one holds up as well as the others.
