Nice styling and color. Shreds 16 pieces of paper with ease. I even tried 20/22 sheets of paper and the machines jamb proof system indicated I was shredding too many papers but still shredded them. The machine is so quite that I shredded papers at 1:00 AM and my wife did not hear the machine(and she is a very light sleeper). The bin is very easy to remove and empty and re-install. The safesense operation of the machine actually works. I tried that operation several times and the safesense worked every time. Another plus for the shredder are the casters.

This shredder is quiet, powerful, and creates very small particles. It's a great deal for the price. We use it daily, but have only had it a month, so its durability is yet to be determined. It's attractive and was easy to set up and operate. The only minor issue is that paper sometimes flops over as it's feeding in and triggers the safety mechanism, stopping the shredder. It doesn't happen often, so it's not bothersome.

Out with the old (a broken down competitor), and in with the new (a great Fellowes workhorse). Due to changes of our family, with one member having to sadly leave us, it was time to shred moving receipts, work related documents, bills, income tax forms, legal papers, articles,CDs, credit cards . . . It was like cleaning out and organizing a public library! Powershred® 79Ci 100% Jam Proof Cross-Cut Shredder came to the rescue. Easy on the ears, good looking to the eyes, practical design, and most of all it made our work fun and speedy with no jamming. Best choice ever.

My last Fellowes was a workhorse and admittedly i broke it by accidentally putting in something metal. My old model is no longer around so i chose this one. Not only is it not worth the $200, it would be disappointing at half teh price. Don't believe the 12 pages per minute, it would choke on a a thick envelope. And you can't put a trash bag inside because whoever designed it put these horrible plastic things in the bin that completely rip open a trash bag when you pull it out. as a result my carpet is full of shredded paper and i have to vacuum now. I will be returning the product.

We haven't had the machine very long, so time will tell how long it actually lasts. However, it seems to be a very solid, good quality machine. So far, we like how it operates and looks, and it is much more quiet than our previous shredder.The addition of waste bags will reduce mess, however, they add to environmental waste. We will likely not use bags.

I always research extensively before making important purchases. I have been wanting to add a shredder to my small home office for quite some time and finally came to a decision on the Fellowes Powershred 79Ci. Glad I did. Amazon.com had the best price and I was even able to get even more of a reduction on the already low price by using my American Express Membership Rewards Points! The Fellowes Powershed 79Ci Crosscut Shredder arrived in only 2 days from Amazon.com. The first thing I noticed is how heavy the box was when I picked it up. The majority of the weight is in the shredding unit itself that sits on top of the shredder stand. It is well built although I was a bit surprised the stand and basket seemed a bit flimsy for such a heavy shredder. I am not using the caster wheels that came with it because the unit will be sitting on the carpet. The shredder came with caster wheels, a small bottle of oil, registration card, a few plastic bags for the wastebasket, operators manual and several quick start inserts. I won't be using the bags. Installation was easy. Be careful when putting the shredder on the stand. I can see how easily the top of the shredder stand could be cracked if someone were to force it. Also keep your hands away from the blades on the bottom of the shredder when installing. I also read where some people are having problems when inserting the caster wheels, cracking the insert points. Once assembled, simply plug in the unit, make sure the switch is on, on the back of the shredder and push the power button. You are now ready to shred. The first thing I noticed is how quiet the shredder is and it shreds with ease. Even though this shredder is crosscut and not a micro cut it still gets a high-security rating and does an excellent job of cutting paper into very small confetti-like pieces. It also shreds media such as credit cards, DVD's and CD's and not to worry if you accidentally run an errant paperclip or staple through the shredder. It will handle those as well. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. Only time will tell how it will hold up in the long term. I'm hoping It will provide me many years of service.

This shredder is so efficient and quiet. The whole building no longer has to hear when I shred documents. My only issue is that for as big as it is, it seems to want to be emptied earlier than even my small one does. That being said, it does tell you it is full, instead of jamming like my old one does. Would recommend it.

Have used product for two days and only experienced one paper jam, which I was able to clear up quickly. While not silent, it's a lot quieter than the previous shredder I owned. Works as advertised and appears to be a reliable shredder that will offer years of service. Comes with a small vial of lubricant, which is a nice touch. Instructions should inform user to wipe excess lubricant from inside waste bin after applying. Bin fills up quickly. Fellowes includes three, clear recyclable bags to put shredded paper, which is useful. However, the supplied bags are not thick and sturdy, and I had to apply tape on a small tear on one bag after transferring the waste paper. Be sure to use a recyclable bag that is large enough to fit over the waste bin to prevent shredded paper from falling to the floor when emptying the bin. Have not tried shredding credit cards or CDs/DVDs. Will try that later. The 79Ci has had no problems dealing with small staples.

Because is not a micro-shredder, the volume produced when shredding is huge. But capacity of bin is too small, so you end up having to hand-compact the shredded product and to empty the bin too often. And emptying the bin is very messy, so prepare to vacuum and clean after. If you have very little to shred, it can be ok, otherwise, don't buy it. I regret being convinced by sales person that it is a great shredder, and regret and hate not being able to return it because did not used it within the 15 days allowed

I purchased the PS-79ci shredder based on my previous experience with a Fellowes shredder. This shredder performs beyond my expectations. It is very quiet, has a nice safety device and operates very smoothly. I would strongly recommend this shredder to anyone looking for a durable shredder, including those who own a small to medium size company. You will be very impressed with the operation of the shredder.
