We've always had light weight shredders, rated for 6 sheets, that struggled with 3. The 79Ci is a breeze. It won't accept it if you have too many sheets, yet if you take away 2, it goes through them like a hot knife through butter, So glad we got it. Safesense can be a little anoying at times, especially since it seems the knives are difficult to get your fingers near anyway. But a small inconvenience for so many features. Although all shredders make noise, this is amazingly quiet, in comparison.

This paper shredder will take up to 12 sheets (depending on thickness) and has no problems with staples, credit cards, etc. It's very quick as long as you don't put too many pages in at once, but if you do, it takes some time for the shredder to put things in reverse and then forward again. That's the "Jam Proof" technology working. You can override it by pressing a combination of two buttons on the shredder. I've found that if you can fit it through the paper slot, it can munch it up into tiny pieces without causing any jams or problems. It takes quite a while to get hot and once it does, it puts itself on a break until it is cool enough to be used again. I believe this is saving it's life, whereas it would probably overheat from the amount of paper shredding I force upon it in one sitting. The pull out paper bin is a very nice feature, but you have to be a little firm with it to click it back into place after dumping the paper shreds. If you had some top secret stuff to shred, I would suggest a shredder that cuts into smaller shreds, but for your average "I want to protect myself from identity theft" issues, this should do just fine. It's super quiet as well... my cats aren't even threatened by it! All in all, I'm very pleased.

I bought this unit because of the warranty, capacity and good looks. The bonus is that it is quiet. Yes, if you try, you can jam this machine by ignoring the red indicator light. Stay in the green or yellow zone and shred as much as you want. The real test will be how well it stands up over the next five years. I expect it will still be functioning just fine.

We were determined not to have limitations of previous inexpensive shredder and were not disappointed. My wife enthusiastically shredded several years of materials over several days. The machine never hesitated or overheated. We believe the difference in quality was well worth paying for [this machine was not as expensive as some others we looked at from a well known office store supplier].

I am self employed and work out of my home. I've bought other shredders that were smaller and have had to replace them after a year because I use it for personal as well as business. This shredder is a work horse and never jams. Would have saved myself several hundreds of dollars and lots of time if I had bought this instead. I highly recommend this product. It is worth the money.

I was first impressed by the low noise level. Secondly Its size was convient for me being able to fit into the space I had available. I was a bit disappointed in the limited continious operational time but this didn't seriously effect my anticipated operation.

I have a home office and therefore have more documents of a personal and professional nature than a typical household. In fifteen years, this is my third Fellowes shredder. This one is the heaviest duty shredder I have owned of those three yet it is the quietist, most durable and efficient of the three. This is due in part, I am sure, to the change in technology as well as going with a more expensive model this time. While I have only had this model about two months, I am already impressed by the performance. Having had a considerable amount of old records to shred during this brief period, I am impressed with how well, how fast and how long this shredder will work without jamming or overheating.

The 79Ci is quiet, size is great, and the design I can put it anywhere and it don't look out of place. And to make it even more valuable it shreds anything I put in it. this shredder has saved my sanity...our old shredder burned out easily and always needed a break to cool down. In my first DAY of having this one, I plowed through the entire massively huge pile of papers that I needed to shred! it's so easy to use and it goes through everything...paper, staples, cds...now I look for things to shred, where as before I dreaded the thought of having to shred even one piece!

I purchased this shredder after using a smaller Fellowes unit and an Embassy unit in the past. They just would not keep up with the quantity of shredding I needed done. This 79ci shredder will take 8 or 9 sheets of paper at the same time without slowing down and after a couple of weeks, has not jammed as the earlier shredders would do. It is also several times more quiet than the others. The icons on the shredder top let you know the status of the shredder and the cause of any slowdown or stoppage in shredding ( such as the paper pin being full ). I highly recommend this for home or small office use.
