Excellent watch

I have been using Garmin watch for years. A couple of Forerunner and one Fenix 3. The Epix Gen 2 is the best by far. Beautiful display. Watch offers 6 days of power how I use it. And it charges very quickly (almost complete charge during a shower). The features are great for training. The display is easy to read when running which was a complaint for the fenix watches. I would recommend this watch. It is a pricey watch but I think it is worth it.

Great watch with one key feature missing

The display is what really sets this watch apart. It's bright, high resolution and rich with color. The watch is feature packed as you'd expect. The companion apps (Garmin ConnectIQ for example) need some UI and UX love however. The battery like takes a big hit due to the AMOLED screen, but it's a worthwhile trade off. That being said though is where the key feature is missing - a solar option like the Fenix 6 and 7.

A Real Step Up

It's an Fenix with an AMOLED display. For the true fitness enthusiast or pro looking for all the metrics one can dream of, from training to recovery, this watch has you covered. The AMOLED display and touch screen makes the Epix 2 the best navigation experienced I've had with a watch. What could be better...? A solar LTE Epix 2, maybe in the near future.

I can see!

I was a Fenix user and loved the watch but when watching reviews comparing the Fenix and the Epix the bright more visible dial caught my eye. With the new Fenix and update I felt obligated to get a watch with functions I didn't want to get the size and DL capacity. I have no need for solar power. Even spending multiple days in the backcountry I have never lost battery with the Fenix or Epix. And if I'm out for a long time I will have a solar panel for other electronics. But I'm more diligent with shutting it off or using battery save mode when not using it. I took a chance on trying this watch and honestly will never go back! It's SO much easier to see the maps! And being able to touch screen to move it is a dream! I hike/climb and backpack. I find myself using the buttons more often then not but love the touch screen for things like that. I was nervous with the 47 size but find it to be SO much more comfortable. If you find yourself in the fence between the 2 and don't care about the solar. But want the maps and space to DL and comfort! Go with the Epix! You will not miss the Fenix!!

Love the HRV readout

This is my first touchscreen watch that also has the HRV feature. I have worn for two weeks now and it is starting to display initial results. The battery life is much better than my Forerunner 755 and it appears to more accurately track my widely varying HR when at rest, sleeping and working out.

Load of options

I bought the watch because I forgot to bring a charger for my Garmin Advantage. Fortunately, both use the same port. Epix has a lot of options but it is not straightforward to figure out. One of my complaints is that it doesn't always show the time to save the battery, which is fine, but I have to often shake somewhat violently to check the time.

Best Sports Watch EVER

It's hard to describe how good this watch is, and I have owned several different brands. The battery is unbelievable for a sports watch, the screen is beautiful and responsive. Maps are great, navigation is simple and it has more information than most will ever use. I was hesitant due to cost but now have no regrets or concerns at all.

Functionally great, in need of hardware upgrade.

Love my Epix Gen 2. Performance and battery life are great. With that said, and comparing to the Apple Watch Ultra, the Epix feels cheap. the bezel scratches way to easily as well. This wouldnt be the end of the world but its also 100 more expensive. Also, this watch needs wireless charging.

From a long term Fenix owner, get the Epix...

I have owned Fenix watches for years and upgraded from each model (3x,4x,5x,6x). I love the Fenix. It is durable, has tremendous battery life, and as of the 6X mostly every sort of tracking that most people would need. I have been to Patagonia, Africa, driven across the US, working out in the gym. The Fenix was a reliable instrument. The only think I wish it had was a better display. That is where the Epix comes in, it is slightly smaller & lighter than the 7X and has a OLED display that is very visible in bright sunlight. The Epix has all of the capability, minus the solar. I keep it in gesture mode and recently tested wearing it for 13 days before needing to recharge at 20%. During that time I tracked a couple of short hikes, went skin diving, tested the sleep monitoring, moderate usage for sure, but it looks like it would last the entire 16 days as advertised between charging. In short, as a Fenix user who does not do ultra marathons, and carries a solar charger when taking long treks of several weeks in the wilderness. The Epix has become my go to watch.

Loving it so far!

Have had this awesome piece of technology for about a month and I'll say I couldn't be more pleased with it. Garmin clearly sees the need to deliver an improved screen and UI experience while still remaining faithful to their core user base belief tenets of battery life, rugged design etc. The EPIX is a perfect compromise that delivers on BOTH sides of the ledger. I have been using Garmin devices for years (last one being the Fenix 6 Pro Solar) so I know what's behind the design ethos of this product. It's great. Very pleased.
