[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently got the sample pack of Shields & Guards ... I have tried one of each & found they have a good fit and function well. However the Guards absorb a lot of liquid but they're bulky ... the Shield is the most comfortable pad I've ever worn it works great for low leakage times. For me the Ultimate Male Pad design would b one that is half way between the Guard & the Shield. When Depend put my Ultimate design on the market I will be a regular customer.

Like the Depends Shields the coverage area is less than what I feel comfortable with. I have days where something like the shields will do but at times I require more protection like the Guards. On bad days I use feminine overnight pads instead of Guards, not a comfortable fit but gives me confidence that I will not leak passed the pad as it covers much more area. This product is supposed to let you forget about our leakage issue and go about our daily routine. This product gets me about 3/4 of the way there. I have had leakage beyond the pad on more than one occasion with the Guards, luckily I work close to home so I was able to go home to change. This product needs to be wider and longer by 3 or 4 inches. Not to be all negative, the product works as advertised. Even with the coverage issue this product is very useful.

I love this product. I use it for larger surges. And I would recommend this to anyone that has this problem. This is day and night for me but I do not recommend these for night time use( they leak). I am thinking about switching for night time and I thing I will use Real-Fit. P.S. They are a little bulky on me but discreet

These used to be a good product, but not now. The absorption has been cut to where I have to change them more often and where I used to use one during the night I now use three! Not to mention that they leak from the sides. I will never buy them again.

The "new" guards are right in there with the "new" Coke and the current Ford dashboard when it comes to really bad changes. I've been using Depend Guards for several years since I had prostate surgery. They always worked splendidly, no leaking even after several hours. I've worn them on several guided tours in Europe and several airplane or driving trips in the US. Never a leak, never a spot. The new ones: failure after failure. I'm now searching through other brands to try to find something that functions as well as the old Guards. What a shame!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I talked to a Depend rep at the 800 number today, who sounded like he was 18 years old. He was a nice enough, but didn't seem to have much of an idea about what it's actually like to have to use any of these products. He would often repeat what I considered to be "corporate platitudes" about them. I had a prostatectomy in March 2015, used the full pants for a while and then graduated to the Guards product. Generally, the Guards work OK, but I think two design changes would be VERY beneficial. First, the Guards need to be stiffened so that they hold their width better. A light plastic mesh located at the bottom of the pad would really help. As the pad fills, it gets narrower and heavier, making it a much more difficult target to hit. When exhausted, it deforms into a long tube. Second, serious consideration should be given to extending the adhesive strip to the end of the top end of the pad. The pad has a tendency to cup as it's being filled and often cups TOO much at the top allowing the user to urinate over the top of the pad. Serious consideration of these two design changes would be very much appreciated.

One of my favorite items for everyday use. Good for "after" leakage and small surges. Excellent for preventing embarrassing visible pant leakage. Nice to have something that you can place just where you need it in your own undergarment. Used to use shields but one use made these my daily go-to item.

Been using this product for dad and have been noticing more leaks and less absorption than the 'old , less flexible' product. I read the reviews and I'm not the only one with this problem. Listen to your customers who use these day in and day out in real life situations and not in a lab. I'll be going back to genetic brands now. Bring back the 'original' ... classic coke is a best seller for a reason.

I recently had a prostatectomy and have been using the Depend Guards for Men for 3 1/2 months. Rather then just using them in my briefs I decided to use an athletic supporter and have found that provides more protection from leakage. I then use my briefs over the supporter. It puts the Guards next to my body, which helps with any excessive leakage, and is especially helpful when I go to bed at night. I have noticed that the additional pressure, the supporter provides, gives just enough pressure, to help maintain bladder control. I continue to do Kegel excercises which is necessary for improving bladder control. Although this idea may not help everyone it has definately given me more confidence in controlling leakage. I have not tried the thinner Shields for Men but would think the same thing, I do now with the supporter, will definately be helpful.
