This is a great watch for tracking activities

I have been a long time Vivoactive watch user. I have had a Vivoactive 3 since they were new to the market. It is still working well except that the battery no longer holds a charge for more than a few days. So, I decided to upgrade. I have all of the features I loved from the Vivoactive 3 plus some really nice additions (pulse ox and respiration are a couple that come to mind). I like the way the v5 organizes the apps and allows for quick access to recently used apps. The screen is a lot more vivid than the v3 (which was pretty good too). The Vivoactive watch series are great, light weight, and reasonably priced.

A really useful, casual daily tool

I’ve had this watch for about 3 weeks and it’s a HUGE upgrade from the Suunto watch I had been using previously. It’s intuitively designed, light (some reviewers have described it as “cheap” feeling, but I see this as a feature, not a bug), and it’s quite responsive to activity. I barely notice it when it’s on and it seems to track sleep and activity quite well. I gave it a 9 strictly because it doesn’t seem to hang too well in the water, and I’d love to see a surf activity added, but it’s not a deal breaker. Also, the strength training mode is a little wonky, but there are workarounds for that. Overall, great experience so far, and I’m definitely happy I opted for this low profile, fitness focused watch in place of an Apple Watch. If you’re looking for something more triathlon or sport focused I’d upgrade to one of Garmin’s more premium watches but for daily wear I’m very happy with it!

Wonderful!

Got this for Christmas because Google bought Fitbit and I didn't want to do that. I absolutely love it! Love the flat face and I swear it keeps better score of everything- steps, health metrics, sleep, etc. Had to get different bands though because this belt buckle mess is just not for me.

A Solid Upgrade for Battery Life and Health Tracki

I recently switched from an Apple Watch to the Garmin Vivoactive 5, primarily because I was frustrated with the short battery life of the Apple Watch. After using the Vivoactive 5 for a few weeks, I can confidently say the switch has been worth it — though not without a bit of a learning curve. What I love: Battery Life: This is hands down the biggest win. I can go several days without charging, even with regular activity tracking, sleep monitoring, and notifications turned on. It’s incredibly freeing not having to top it up every night. Sleep Tracking & Coaching: Garmin's sleep tracking is far more detailed and helpful than what I had before. The sleep coaching feature gives useful insights and suggestions that feel actionable instead of just data for data’s sake. Customization & Watch Faces: There’s a great selection of watch faces, and I appreciate how customizable the watch is overall. It feels like it can be truly tailored to your preferences and lifestyle. The trade-off: Steeper Learning Curve: With all the features and data Garmin offers, there’s definitely a learning curve. The interface and menu system aren’t always intuitive, and I’m still discovering new functions weeks later. If you're coming from a more simplified system like Apple’s, expect a bit of an adjustment period. Final Thoughts: If you're someone who prioritizes battery life, in-depth health tracking, and customization, the Garmin Vivoactive 5 is a strong contender. It’s not quite as plug-and-play as the Apple Watch, but once you get the hang of it, the benefits are absolutely worth it.

Latest Update Wrecking the Watch

I had a very satisfying first two weeks with the watch until the last update. Now a full charge lasts less than a day. I charged my watch 100% before an hour and a half ride and it was down to 33% when I was done. Please fix this NOW. The watch is useless to me like this.

Great update

My Vivo 4 finally gave up the ghost (battery) after a long service life, and I long had my eye on this update, particularly for the improved screen. But beyond that it’s notably lighter and more streamlined, and continues to have more features that I use. Very pleased.

50/50

I am getting used to it, however, not as user friendly as the I-watch. From what I can tell, you don't have audio alerts which I rely on. And for some reason I can't get my text messages to show up. When you google it has solutions but never for the options on this watch even when you put the specific watch.

Happy - New Vivo5 Owner

had purchased a Forerunner 55 to replace my Forerunner 235, but was disappointed with the battery life (lasted 2-3 days). Vivo 5 has been lasting 10-11 days. Like the new features (body battery, sleep score) too compared to the 235. Vivo 5 has the ability to store and playback Spotify playlists, but it is hard to operate while running and drains the battery life.

Good Features & Great Value for your $$$

I bought this to replace my dying Fitbit & definitely made the right choice. There are so many more features than I had with my Fitbit. I really like the recovery mode feature, along with the stress tracking feature. I highly recommend if you are in the market for a Smartwatch/Fitness tracker.

Wish I had purchased sooner!

I'm a former Apple Watch and Fitbit wearer. I moved to Fitbit for longer batter life, and now I'm wishing I had considered Garmin before buying a Fitbit Sense. The Fitbit was ok, but the Vivoactive is so much better! The notifications from apps alone makes it worth it. Factor in battery life and ease of use and the Vivoactive option is the best by far.
