Great update

My Vivo 4 finally gave up the ghost (battery) after a long service life, and I long had my eye on this update, particularly for the improved screen. But beyond that it’s notably lighter and more streamlined, and continues to have more features that I use. Very pleased.

Enjoying My New Watch

For the past several years I have used a different brand of smart watch. A friend suggested I change to Garmin. I am an avid cyclist and enjoy keeping track of my miles as I ride. I love that Garmin has this feature and use it regularly. I am still learning how to use the other features such as the Sleep Coach, etc. I am not keen on instruction manuals and like a device that is extremely user friendly. The reason Garmin received a "good" rating is that I am going to need to pull up the manual for some of its features and the connections for changing watch bands is very difficult for my arthritic fingers. Otherwise I am pleased with this produce and would definitely recommend to others!

Complicated

Received this as a birthday gift and upgrade from my vivoactive 4, which I had for about 2 years. Seems to offer some upgraded features but has so far been difficult to use them. Even after reading manuals and spending hours tinkering…hard to change the watch face, hard to access music, ect…I miss my old watch. This watch does have a better feel on my wrist. It was a gift, so I will keep it. If I bought it myself, I would have returned it.

Great upgrade but need a smaller band.

My Vivoactive 4s died while on vacation in the DR. And by died, I mean DIED!! It lost full charge in 2 hours and then was physically hot to the touch. Ordered the Vivoactive 5 to be delivered upon return home and I really like it! The screen is amazing! 4 stars because I have a very small wrist and truly wished there was a smaller version (the main reason why I chose the 4s over the 4) or at least offer smaller bands. But overall, it's a great upgrade.

Great overall watch

It's a good upgrade from the vivoactive 4s. Battery is better (lasts 7 days), the screen looks brighter, you can actually text on here, see images in your notifications, and it gives lots of detailed info on sleep, body battery, and suggestions for exercise based on how stressful your day has been.

Detailed features

I love this watch. It's my 2nd Vivoactive. Lots of features with just a scroll. A couple of things I'm not thrilled with, the bottom button. It's hard to get to and have to use my thumb to apply pressure. Also, when I move my wrist, it does not always open up to show the time. Maybe there's a simple trick to it. I would almost prefer it to stay open rather than go to the black screen.

Good and frustrating

Features are great. BEWARE the watch face scam - if you load the face app you can never return to the default settings without Paying MORE. Instructions mentioned importing historical data from vivo active4 but at 6 weeks of wearing it still isn’t reading my normal ( rx boosted ) heart rate and so over estimating stress based solely on HR. Also this is a Big watch. A little tough on people with small wrists. I wish there were natural fiber / breathable band options - any dampness under the default gives me a red rash. I like the features but I wish it was smaller and used my history

Mixed Reviews

My Vivoactive 5 is a recertified product due to previous Vivoactive 4 malfunctions. I did receive a recertified, not new item. Smaller than the Vivo 4, the Vivo 5 has a low budget look and feel to it. My main concern is for how long will this watch last until it shuts off. All the bells and whistles for an active person but a few glitches during the day. Battery is something you have to be aware of as well, I'm always checking to see when charge needed. Not too confident in this device.

Great, but can easily lead a person to injury

This watch is great, health metrics are good, gps is okay (it doesn't really work indoors). The coach plan doesn't seem to be very good, it's more robotic. The heart rate chart on the phone is okay, but doesn't show the zones as well as the watch does. It's an easy fix since they already do it on the watch, but they probably won't. The injury part comes from the coaches plan not telling a person they need to stretch, how to stretch, or that it's even a thing. They have the capacity to show exercises and how to do them with videos but not stretching for some reason. There isn't even an activity for stretching. So you have to make custom ones for each stretch, which if you dont stretch right you could easily hurt yourself. They should definitely change that. Otherwise it might be an issue if someone hurts themselves. Watch is great though, it's just let down by the software around it, and a person can hurt themselves just blindly following the coach plans suggested workouts.

A great upgrade from my Vivoactive 3

I have had my watch for a week and am highly impressed. The watch is very lightweight and feels very comfortable on my tiny wrist. The graphics are amazing and easy to read. I did an indoor marathon and my previous watch did not accurately measure the laps but this one did! I love the new features compared to the old one. I am still getting used to the functions as it does work slightly different but this is an improvement as the Vivoactive 3 sometimes did weird things at night due to the touchscreen feature. I originally charged the watch to full power and it seriously will last a week which will be great for weekend trips. I haven't explored any additional features such as triathlons on it but I am sure with the activity readings I won't be disappointed. Thank you Garmin!
